So they have announced a 'Space Ball' for Saturday night, but the prices are pretty high. $150 gets you a basic ticket, and you can double that if you want to go to the VIP Party.

For that price, I think I'll just be at the FoCC meetup. ;)

I can stop by Fry's and pick up some astronaut food desserts :)

Just over a month to go! Who else is getting excited  ;D

As SVCC mentioned earlier, they are adding the City National Civic, California Theater, and South Hall this year. This is excellent as they need more space and it will help give it more of a campus feel (at least the Civic and Theater will.) The City National Civic is directly across the street from the Convention Center and the California Theater is about 1-2 blocks away in the SOFA District, which is a pretty hip area and could get onboard with SVCC.

I am very interested in seeing what they do with the additional space. Last year, the main panel room had a capacity of 3900 and all the others were a few hundred or less. They really need a couple of mid-sized rooms. The area where VIP was last year is often used for panels at other conventions and would be a good space for a couple of mid-sized rooms. But then they'd have to move the VIPs and they wouldn't be able to have a separate entrance anymore. Still, that would free up space for another few rooms and/or more contiguous exhibition space. They could also put some of the smaller panel rooms downstairs together, but then they'd lose those rooms. The size and location of them were great for relaxing in the evening. There are also a couple of rooms behind the smaller panel rooms which IIRC weren't used last year. These would offer much needed space but they are hidden and there is not enough space to wait in line, and if I were a panelist I don't know how I'd feel about being stuck in an area where nobody looks. These rooms would work well for movie or anime viewings though.

The City National Civic has a capacity of about 2800 and the California Theater about 1100. If they kept the setup from last year and used both of these venues for panels, we'd have two larger rooms and one mid-sized room. Or, if they want to use the City National Civic for the main panels then they could split up last year's main room into a couple of mid-sized rooms, or use it for additional artist/dealer space. But, I think it would make sense to keep the main room where it currently is, in addition to using the two main venues for panels. It seemed to be a good size for last year's crowd and the location worked well, being right across from the exhibit hall and also being down the hallway where people can queue.

The South Hall is the big blue tent behind the Convention Center. It's an eyesore and was only supposed to be temporary. It feels more county fair/flea market than convention center. I've heard they want to tear it down and build a new CC expansion/hotel which would be the best idea ever, but there's a lot of red tape involved. So we're stuck with it for now. That being said, it does offer a lot of space. It would be a good area for registration, but not much else. But if registration is anything like last year, it would only be full part of Saturday and it would sit mostly empty the rest of the time. Still, maybe that's the best use of that space.

Tuesday, March 21 is the shipping deadline for badges! So if you're on the fence and waffling, now is the time to buy!

Also, if anyone is on the fence about a meetup on Saturday night, now is the time to commit!

As you already know, me (and my bro) will be there for the meetup.

But yeah, I too am excited for this year's SVCC. Can't wait to see the panels list. Does anyone remember when they posted that last year?

So Grant Gustin is going to be there! Him and Tom Felton are going to have a panel together on Sunday. Photo-op and autograph also on Sunday. If you get one of the VIP packages, which isn't cheap, you get a guaranteed seat for the panel.

I will not lie, while it is cool Gustin will be there, his asking price is a joke. I know he is taking advantage of his Flash popularity, but good grief. You can get a Mark Hamill auto at this $199 asking price; maybe even cheaper. Sure, the VIP has other things included, but it looks like this is the only way to get his signature.

Btw, this isn't his first con appearance. He has been to SDCC and other cons as well. Sure, he never had his own booth but he has been around. I find it silly they didn't double check that.

I do have a signed Flash poster from WonderCon 2015 that doesn't have him. I will think about it, but I will not do the $449.00 VIP pass!

Tom Felton looks like the fun one, has a selfie option. Some other guests added, Billy Boyd and Gina Torres.

If you just want to make sure you see Grant Gustin at the panel, the regular VIP is the better option at $250 (versus $450 for Grant). Last year for the BTTF panel, the regular VIPs and the 'single panel VIPs' all got together in the same line and had the same access. And the $250 VIP gets you in first to EVERY panel, not just one of them.

Just saying....

Exactly! And the $450 Grant VIP doesn't even include access to the con itself. Btw, it has been confirmed, if anyone wants his autograph, you must buy the $199 VIP that has it, or the crazy $450.

I'm considering the Star Trek TNG photo op. I saw that Levar Burton has cancelled. I also noticed that Michael Dorn's guest listing is gone and that his name is gone from the photo op. Now added to the photo is Denise Crosby and Robert O'Reilly (Gowron) from the show. Has anyone heard whether Michael Dorn cancelled? Grant Gustin and Michael Felton are great additions BTW. Thanks!

I found that odd too, since the first thing I thought of was seeing him in the SDCC Flash-Arrow-Gotham-Constantine mega panel in 2014. In their newsletter they just sent out, they clarified it to say that it was his first time doing autographs/photo ops. They also just edited the Facebook post also.

I also found this back and forth from Fan Expo Canada: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Which is kind of a dumb article, but it does contain a tweet from Gustin from 2016 saying "I'm sorry to everyone that goes to the cons that I haven't attended any." Yet this was after his appearance at SDCC in 2014 and 2015. I guess it was just implied that he hasn't attended any where he has had his own booth.

I hadn't heard this before either. It does sound like the TNG reunion is being undermined a bit, but honestly, this kind of thing happens when guests are booked so far out. If having the full cast there for the photo op matters to you, then it may not be for you. Sorry...

I would send them an email. They still have an individual photo op with Michael Dorn being sold on the site, so it's confusing.

Saw that Drew Struzan signings are $50 as well.

Hey strangers!

I told my wife that Grant Gustin will be there on Sunday now she's all about it, lol.  She's a a Gleek and a Flash Fanatic.

Does anyone know if i purchased a pic the $150 version for Gustin, would that be for just that 1 person, or can 1 more person get in on that?
