Just pre-booked a hotel in case I decide to go, will wait for the guest line up first.

The hotels via the c2e2 web site are usually cheaper then the standard rack rate of other hotels

I don't know how lining up for C2E2 works as it will be my first show but I sure do hope they let all attendees into the building at the same time. I would hate to be stuck outside an extra hour in March in Chicago

No idea if there's a time the building opens, but I was staying in a hotel attached to the convention center and was able to wander over to the convention halls prior to 7am.  The line was just starting to form.  It was either at 1 or 2 hours prior to opening (can't remember which), they let you go into the area where the queues form.  It's not a single file line, but more a mass of people about 10-15 wide that enter at the same time.  They have separate lines for VIPs, 1 in a lounge and 1 right next to the normal line.  VIPs enter, they wait about 1 minute and then let everyone else enter.

If you arrive prior to when they let you in the queue area, a single file line does form.  I don't think it got more than a couple hundred people long before we were let into the queue area.  It all seemed pretty orderly.  I saw some saving of spots in line, but it was very minimal.  Amazingly I was about 12th in line when I arrived and was about 12th in line when they let us into the hall.  What a concept!  At SDCC I would have ended up about 100th in line by the time they let us in.

The lines are super smooth at C2E2. And I second what DaveG said about the building opening--you won't have a problem getting in early. And if you do, the Hyatt Regency next door is actually attached to McCormick Place.

I'm attending C2E2 for the first time in 2016, I wanted to check it out....for science of course. I bought plane ticket while SW had their sale, I booked a RT flight from Philly to CHI for $140. How crazy id that! I just need to buy my badge and decide on which hotel I want to stay at this weekend. I'm bringing two friends that don't normally do the Con scene, but want to visit Chicago and will attend one day of the Con. The summer COn season is shaping up nicely.

Slippery Slope, meaning becoming a Con addict. If so, I'm already there. I've attended SDCC twice (trying for a 3rd), Wizard World Philly 3 times, and NYCC twice. I want to try Dragon Con and almost went this year last minute. Someday I'd like to vacation in London again during MCM or LFCC and vacation in Australia during SupaNova.
