I love My hero Academia and I don’t really watch anime besides one punch man and Pokémon lol. I did not even attempt to get a autograph I knew it was going to be crazy! Hopefully he is here next year and I can at least see the panel.

That was our experience too. But what made this very hard for my son was on Sunday evening he rode up the elevator with Kohei Hirokoshi but had no pen and Kohei does not allow photographs. Needless to say my son will never be without a pen again.  :(

Usually the rules with Mangaka, you’re never allowed to take a photo with them. The publisher also tends to be strict on what you can get signed by them, so it’s also rare that they may sign outside items, besides their provided shikishi board.

Is there some specific reason that people who specifically write manga don't do photos? That's really strange.

Usually Mangaka aren’t supposed to be seen through the public eyes, in order to keep themselves from being mob by fans.

Even in Japanese television interviews they’re faced are not allowed to be seen on screen, or trace of their faces shown on screen. However, there are some rare cases, like the creator of Fairy Tail at NYCC last year.

From what I could tell too, he seemed very shy and nervous about being in the public eye. Based on his requests, my guess is that he was more uncomfortable with the idea of his image getting out there beyond his existing in-person nerves.. Self conscious perhaps.
