Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi wants a woman to replace him — saying Rising Damp’s Frances de la Tour should play the Time Lord. Frances — Rigsby’s love interest in the 70s sitcom — would finally break the show’s male dominance of 12 male leads.

I think that would be awesome.  (Frances de la Tour was also Olympe Maxime in the Harry Potter films and has an impressive theater background.) And there's precedent!  [member=314]Transmute Jun[/member] mentioned Rowan Atkinson which is what prompted my mention of Joanna Lumley since they were the initial and final Doctor in Moffat's first Doctor Who story (with Jim Broadbent and Richard and Hugh Grant in quick succession between them.) Granted, this was a spoof for Red Nose Day that featured farting as a plot device but still ...
