For the superhero genre, the music reflects these emotions and more. This panel offers a behind-the-scenes look at the music of today's biggest superhero film and TV projects, with unreleased film clips and never-before-heard music. Participating composers include Mark Isham (Cloak & Dagger), Marco Beltrami (Logan, The Wolverine), Brian Tyler (The Mummy, Power Rangers), David Russo (Gotham), Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther; Death Wish), and Jeff Russo (Legion), moderated by Ray Costa. A lot of publishers have no idea what to submit to the press, how to submit it, and why they are being overlooked for coverage. Comics journalist Rik Offenberger (First Comics News, Archie Comics) moderates this panel on just what it takes to get coverage, with the comic journalists themselves telling you what they are looking for in submissions. They include Alex Raymond (Hollywood Gone Geek), Francis Sky (First Comics News, Massacre Twins), Glenn Hauman (ComicMix), Heidi MacDonald (The Beat), J. C. Comic Book Law School® 101: Help Me Understand

Getting off on the right foot is key to traveling on the road to success. This year's Comic Book Law School is designed to help you navigate the best possible route (and provide help in deciphering the map legend). Noted IP attorney Michael Lovitz, author of The Trademark and Copyright Book comic book, is joined by attorneys David Branfman and Jeremy S. Goldman for the first of three fun, interactive, and informative programs, which this year will track the progression of (fictional) client as he traverses the many steps involved in creating, developing, protecting, and monetizing a new comic book character. This first installment focuses on the basics and provides attendees with the foundation needed for understanding the various intellectual property rights available to creators and business owners, along with insights on these protections, including how best to safeguard ideas, creative works, characters, brands, and names/titles from genesis through publication, distribution, and beyond. Attendees are invited to participate in an interactive discussion about the rights provided under US copyright and trademark laws, including a discussion on the protections these laws provide, the benefits of federal registrations for each, tips on working with collaborators, and issues of joint authorship and work made for hire. Along the way, there will be plenty to learn about the protections available as well as about the numerous pitfalls that you may find under the U.S. trademark and copyright systems. Note: The Comic Book Law School seminars are designed to provide relevant information and insights to practicing attorneys as well as practical tips to creators and other professionals who may wish to attend. Nicole Larrondo (Brown University) investigates how the Chilean government is involved in publishing comics and the ways in which comics have been used inside and outside the classroom as a pedagogical tool to encourage the study of Chilean history.

As part of this year's gala Jack Kirby Centennial, here's an hour-long chat with Jack's favorite inker of his work, the man who worked with him on the Fourth World comics, Kamandi, The Demon, and many others. But Mike Royer was so much more than just Jack Kirby's inker. He worked with Russ Manning on the Tarzan comic books and newspaper strip and again with Russ on the Star Wars newspaper strip. He drew for Creepy, Eerie, and Vampirella and worked on the '60s Marvel superhero cartoons and for Gold Key Comics and had a multi-decade career working for Disney on things as un-Kirbylike as Winnie the Pooh. Come hear him be interviewed by his friend and colleague, Mark Evanier.

A comic book artist, writer, editor, and producer, Haberlin is best known as the co-creator of the Witchblade franchise and for his digital art innovations. Haberlin currently runs Digitalarttutorials.com, produces art tutorials, graphic novels, and comics, teaches at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and is partner in Anomaly Productions.

Much of their training takes place inside the school's awesome "Danger Room." If you want to be an X-man, you have to train like one. Well, the same goes for writers. If you want to be one, you have to train like one, too. But how much time do you usually find at Comic-Con to sit down and actually practice your craft? In the Writer's Danger Room, you'll spend a solid hour doing short, powerful writing exercises that will test your talents, sharpen your skills, and push you past what you thought you could do. Corey Rothermel (co-author of Epic Win!: The Geek's Guide to the Journey from Fan to Creator) will facilitate this interactive workshop open to writers of all ages and skill levels.
