They were not in previous years, but who knows this year?
Says activate prior to ECCC on the badge. Haven't tried to yet.
Wondering why they want us to "activate" the badge, when there is really no reason too. (assuming there is no RFID and scanning of the badges). At NYCC we had to register and activate the badge so that it would scan through the scanners. Think it's just a ruse to trick people who may consider making illegal badges?I'm trying to find it on their site, but have not found anything. If memory serves me right, NYCC was very specific about the new system of scanning the badges in and out etc...
I can tell if some cons if not all are starting to use tech to either keep track how many actually go into con and check things out and who try to buy and resale for profit but dont know cause dont check if the cons have a crew who do know where to look to see who try to sale a badge any by chance. it was never liked that when i first went to a con, but saw how easy it was to just pass off a badge hand made and let anyone just walk in and act as if paid for it but never did. so i guess soon all cons will use scanners at any con if they notice or hear about resalers try profit of a badge they got at anytime.
What that means is that you have to register the badge on their site. Last year this meant that you had to enter the number on the back of the badge on their site and your email. That was it. There was no RFID at the con itself.
I don't think you can enter the Funko lottery if you don't register.
Extremely weak, but 2016 was worse. They've never had mind-blowing last minute surprises before...not expecting that to change this year. I think Tennant/Piper is going to end up being this year's last biggest announcement.
Doesn't really say on the registration page for the lottery but we'll see in a few days. Just have a valid badge for that day.
So they want us to activate our badges...meh. It's a very easy process that only takes 10 seconds to do. Just do it; one less thing to worry about.
