Hey friends, I’m as excited as you are but we haven’t made any announcements yet! The best way to stay up-to-date on ALL THE NYCC NEWS is to sign up for our newsletter here: http://NYCC19.com/Newsletter

Roughly 2 months until Press and Pro applications open up based on previous years.

Very excited! Last year was our first time, and we can't wait for this year ;D
-
Leading off today's survey invitation:
We know, we know. You were hoping this email would tell you when NYCC badges are going on sale. We promise we'll be sending out that information soon.
-
It looks like they're bringing back 4-day passes. https://twitter.com/NY_Comic_Con/status/1113170499343912962
Possibly another announcement related to tickets coming tomorrow. Fan verification dates, maybe? Press/pro still hasn't opened up yet.

thats odd since Press/Pro hasn't opened up yet, usually they open Press/Pro up so we know if we need to buy
-
Hooray, 4 day passes! I was always so paranoid about putting on the wrong badge but also didn’t want to lug around all of them with me every day.
Boo, more lotteries! I guess that means they’re cleaning Madison Sqaure Garden and Hammerstein after each panel like they do with Main Stage. Will we be running all over the place to get swipes for panels if we don’t win the lotteries?
-
Refundable tickets, wow!
-
[member=3593]debster[/member] I think the letter says they won't be clearing those rooms except the reserved section

It did, and I think people can move from the reserved to the regular? I'm not sure how this will work out.

Ok, thanks! I missed that part. I wonder how efficient that’s going to be and how they’ll make sure only the people who get to sit in the reserved seats sit there.

Usually, you check in a certain entrance, you get a wristband, and they walk you in and to that section. I only had it once and it was annoying, they walked us in after the panel started and it was dark.
-
Here's a summary of the announcements.
https://www.friendsofcc.com/2019/04/03/changes-coming-for-nycc-2019/
What I don't understand is how they will only clear part of Hammerstein/MSG. What if the non-reserved seats are full? Could someone 'go to the bathroom' and then come back and be in the room, even if there isn't a seat for them? I foresee a lot of issues.
ReedPop used the Lyte badge resale system at ECCC this year and it was very well received.
-
they are using lyte for celebration as well
-
I won't be going this year due to the fact I have no family members living in New York and finances are tight, so staying at paid accommodations is off the table. I was bummed that I missed seeing Michelle Rodriguez last year!
-
Those are some nice changes, especially the use of Lyte, which I've never heard of until now. I wish SDCC could use that.

Institute the use of bathroom passes, like in school. ;)

I have mixed feelings on the seat reservations for MSG. Hypothetically it could eliminate some of the folks who camp out all day for end of the day panels like The Walking Dead, but I would also assume the reserved seating is the closer seats? So if you don't win the lottery, you automatically have to sit further back? You can pretty much always get into MSG if you come a panel ahead, but I don't know if that will be the case in this new system.

I got an email this morning asking me to confirm my fan verification info, and when I did, I also got a confirmation email to say I was all set for the presale. Check your inboxes!

It seems like they're making things needlessly complicated. Par for the course.

We got our emails to verify our Fan Accounts as well :) Really simply - took maybe 30 seconds.

Emails are going about verification being successful. You'll get an email link 48 hours before the sale.

Presale on May 5!
10:00 AM ET
Q: Hello @NY_Comic_Con do you know when the pre-sale emails with link will be sent?
A: Tomorrow
https://twitter.com/NY_Comic_Con/status/1123991247000150019
-
The emails with the presale link are going out!
-
Yep...just got mine!
-
my account from years ago keeps getting rolled over so I got one too
-
Got my link too! I know I said last year that I wasn't planning on going back anytime soon but man, I really love the cosplay scene at NYCC more than SDCC and would want to be part of that crowd again. Hmmmm decisions.....

[member=1908]jazzyj[/member] - Curious - what about the NYCC cosplay scene do you like even more than the one at SDCC? I haven't been to NYCC...yet. :)

[member=352]marcia29[/member] Yeah! I just think there's a higher percentage of cosplayers present at NYCC rather than SDCC (maybe it's because NYCC is a bit more condensed compared to SDCC?) That and also the weather is a bit more tolerable to cosplay in.
But yeah, the Javits Center has a nice general area both inside the con and outside the con where a lot of cosplayers hangout so it's easier to spot them. Also if you're a cosplayer it's easier to meet up with other cosplayers in your fandom.

NYCC Presale Assigning Badges Walkthrough
https://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Badges/Presale-Assigning-Badges-Walkthrough/
For the presale, you can only assign someone whose 2018 Fan Ver account was rolled over for 2019.
...
After you've assigned the badge to your friend or family member and have completed your checkout, they'll receive an email notifying them that they've been transferred a NYCC badge. They must go into their Fan Verification account through ShowClix's My Tickets page (henceforth known as Fan Ver Hub) to accept the transfer.
NYCC Manage Badges Walkthrough
https://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Badges/Managing-Your-NYCC-Badges/
For presale only: If the friend you're trying to transfer the NYCC badge to is not Fan Verified (not eligible for the presale), you'll get the following error:

crazy queue
-
If you've been waiting in the virtual queue for longer than an hour, stay with us. Our team had to slow down letting people through the queue to checkout when some fans were experiencing a checkout error.
-
Twitter posts from Reedpop and regular folk saying all badges still available.
-
We started letting people back through the queue as soon as it was resolved, but this is why there's a longer wait time than previous years. Hang tight! You'll get through. There are still all badge types available. (2/2)

Good luck everyone!! It was pretty quick for me (Not sure if being in Manhattan helped). I clicked the link at 12:00:30 and got into the waiting room. I was only missing the Friday badge and was able to purchase that by 12:07pm.

Hmmmm I wonder if being closer to NYC helped. I'm in Santa Fe, NM so maybe that's why I wasn't able to get in until 12:03.
Congratulations on getting your missing days. That's Awesome

Maybe being on the east coast helped a drop. RP is CT not NY based. I always do feel being on the coast may make a slight difference for when they make things active but could that also depend where the website servers sit?

I’m done, got one Saturday badge and three Sunday badges for my friends/family.

All I know is that it is now 12:37 and I'm still in the queue. I think my chances of getting tickets are slim to none. But that's okay, I'll just head to Austin that weekend and go to the ACL festival

According to their official Twitter account, the Saturday badges are being held because other people are in the process of purchasing them. They'll become available if their cart times out or they delete them from their cart.

My advice...
1. Sign up as a volunteer
Last year I met a woman from Jersey who does that. She does not do open registration. It's my backup plan if I don't score a badge.
2. Join or set up a buying group
-

You have a 6% chance of getting a badge in the general sale. The odds are pretty low if you don’t work with other people.
For what it’s worth I have gotten through in the general sale and I’m a NY resident.

I think the volunteer thing is a good idea and will keep that in mind. If you do volunteer, do you get a badge for all days or just the day you volunteer?
Unfortunately, I'm a lone wolf. I have very few friends and none of them are interested in attending comic cons.

6-7% is the estimate the unofficial blog came up with.

Unfortunately, I'm a lone wolf. I have very few friends and none of them are interested in attending comic cons.
I've only done what they call Pre-Con Shifts (Tues or Wed), and since I've always had 4 day badges, I don't know how it works to get a badge for a particular day. However, from what I've seen on the forum, i think you have to do a shift for every day you want to get into the convention center.
The forum has a lot of good information
https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?topic=9851.0
As for buying groups, if you're interested, keep your eye on the forum for openings. They do a pretty good job.

Obviously Lyte is new for NYCC, but I can tell you that for ECCC this year it worked extremely well, and nearly everyone who wanted badges and put themselves on the waitlist eventually got them. It doesn't hurt to try, just as it doesn't hurt to ask either. ;)

Any idea on the timeline of how quickly they fulfill their requests? I see that I'm 200+ in line for badges. Did anyone tell you how long this takes?

It's variable, depending on how quickly people return badges.

Absolutely.

So it seems like people who sold their badges via Lyte are still getting badges shipped to them. They are "dead" badges. I'm sure scammers won't take advantage of this at all.
-
Got my badge. :)

Does the NYCC have lots of offsite events like SDCC? Do things sell out in seconds like they do for SDCC?
-
Does the NYCC have lots of offsite events like SDCC? Do things sell out in seconds like they do for SDCC?
There are off sites but not nearly as many as sdcc
Badges do not sell out as fast as sdcc, but they do sell out eventually. I think right now there are badges for Thursday.
Nycc is a different vibe than sdcc. I go because it's close for me, and I only go for one day. I wouldn't consider it a destination con.
-
The ones from last year were a lil spread out too. I was at an Alex Ross offsite last year for his new book, was a great event, but a few blocks from JJC.

legacy fans get an early access link for the lotteries
Pre-Show Lottery FAQs excerpts
There are now lotteries for MSG and Hammerstein panels, is this new? I know there have been lotteries for Main Stage for a number of years, but I don’t remember having them for the other venues.
https://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Explore/Panels/Pre-Show-Lottery-FAQs/
What can I enter for a chance to win?
The three things you can enter for a chance to win are:
A seat in a panel taking place on the Main Stage, the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, and The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center
A spot in limited autographing sessions with the casts from some of your favorite movies and TV shows
A chance to purchase some super limited exhibitor exclusives
When and where can I enter the lottery?
We have a special perk for our legacy fans, aka fans who have previously attended NYCC and have been Fan Verified before 2019. If that's you, you'll have first access to the lottery and are eligible to enter from Monday, September 16 to Tuesday, September 20 at 5:00 PM ET. You will receive your exclusive link via email on Monday, September 16.
All other fans are eligible to enter from Friday, September 23 to Tuesday, September 27 at 5:00 PM ET. The link will be posted on this page!
For any legacy fans who forget to enter early, you can also enter from September 23 to September 27.
When do I find out if I'm a winner?
Fans who enter during the early entry period will be notified on Friday, September 23.
All other fans will be notified by Friday, September 30.
When should I arrive to each event?
For limited signings and exhibitor exclusives, please arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
For panels in the Main Stage, please arrive to the 1C Queue Hall 35 minutes prior to the panel start time to gain entry.
For panels at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center, please arrive 35 minutes prior to the panel start time to gain entry. When you arrive, look for the “Reserved Seating” line and you will have access to a specific section of the theater.
Please note, the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center are not cleared between panels but the reserved seating section will be cleared between panels. If you would like to stay for multiple panels and seats are still available, you can move to a general admission seats. If no general admission seats are available after the panel you won a seat for, you will be asked to vacate the theater. General admission seating is not guaranteed.
Remember to arrive on time – if you arrive after the scheduled start time, we can't guarantee your spot will still be available.
Are all the seats in the Main Stage, the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, and the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center going to be filled via the pre-show lottery?
Nah – as we mentioned, only 50% of the seats in the Main Stage, the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, and the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center will be filled via the pre-show lottery.
If you'd like to see a panel in the Main Stage and did not win the lottery, head to the Queue Hall in 1C when you arrive to tap your NYCC badge and reserve your seat. Seating for Main Stage panels will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and we will still be clearing the Main Stage after each panel. More details are available on our Main Stage Clearing and Badge Tapping page.
If you’d like to see a panel at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center and did not win the lottery, seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. As long as you have your NYCC badge, you can head straight to either venue in the morning or throughout the day.
