Following the SDCC coverage from NYC. They just had Tom dressed as Loki (which was awesome) and showed of some footage. Not really a big Thor 2 panel. So I'm more hopeful they will have one for NYCC, with more of the cast. (Maybe a screening of the full movie too?) .I know there are plans for D23. But that's not comic con. Also is Chris Hemsworth, still filiming his movie "Cyber" in Hong Kong?

Sony has had a panel at NYCC for the past two years. In 2011, they brought Ghost Rider 2, which came in out February and needed good buzz. So I them expect to have big panel for Robocop, since that film is coming in Feb and needs more traction. Amazing Spider-Man less likely to have big panel, because it might get take away too much attention. But maybe we'll get some Rhino footage.

WB and Legendary had small panels last year. From how big their presentation was at SDCC, this year, I'm not expecting too much at NYCC. Although, since the Hobbit was not SDCC, I'm thinking we might see some footage. Legendary will probably push Seventh Son again, since it's coming in January and needs traction badly. But I'm hoping Gareth Edwards shows up with Godzilla. Much like Del Toro brought Pacific Rim trailer, last NYCC.

Some other films I think have good chance of being NYCC:

TMNT movie- Not at SDCC, needs more traction and good buzz

Ender's Game- Needs more traction and good buzz and it coming out in November.

47 Ronin - We haven't anything about the film in months, and it's coming out in December.

I am praying for a Thor 2 panel. As much as I would LOVE to have been at SDCC with Tom dressed as Loki, I know I would have been in the been at the back of the room of 6000+ people (as I was not going to camp out without confirmation of these kind of guests). Avengers 2 was announced, but I am mainly in it for Loki/Tom. I just like those bad boys. Hoping so since I know that Chris and Tom have been guests if NYCC before, and it is closer to the release.

I actually do hope Robocop is there so I can protest how awful it will be. TMNT looks really bad. But I agree about Ender's Game. I have no idea what it is about.

Godzilla Encounter might be coming to NYCC. Check out the video, from the staff at San Diego:

Da Vinci Demons may also be at NYCC. According to Io9:

"And meanwhile, Goyer said his TV show Da Vinci's Demons is filming its second season, and you might see some stuff at New York Comic-Con."

Community website Wikia is collaborating with artists Yos**taka Amano (Final Fantasy game series, Vampire Hunter D), Kazuo Koike (Lone Wolf and Cub, Crying Freeman, Lady Snowblood), Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai), and Sin'Ichi Hiromoto (Hells Angels, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, STONe) on the "The Masters of Animanga: A Wikia Collaborative Writing Project." MAPPA producer and MADHOUSE co-founder Masao Maruyama (Ninja Scroll, Claymore, Trigun) and Hiroaki Ikegami (publicity producer Space Battleship Yamato 2199) will oversee the project.
(https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn01.animenewsnetwork.com%2Fthumbnails%2Fmax400x400%2Fcms%2Fnews%2F55048%2Fyos%2A%2Ataka-amano.jpg&hash=77351a8e9665b73e05b8a5336e8e0f814909ee84)

On September 3, users will be invited to Wikia to submit one paragraph each to the collaborative story project. Following each submission, a new user will have the opportunity to add to the story. Over the course of three weeks, the project will develop three different stories around the themes "vampire," "samurai," and "girls." Users can also upload fanart to accompany the stories as they develop, and the Masters will offer feedback on the submissions.

The creators will upload videos on to Wikia up to the launch date offering tips and tricks of the trade. The project will conclude on September 27 with a final wrap-up panel to be hosted at New York Comic Con in October. Amano was a guest at New York Comic Con last year.

From Entertainment Weekly:

"Music and fashion mogul Russell Simmons says he has  October’s New York Comic-Con circled on his calendar for the first big reveal of The Harlem Shadow, a new animated online superhero series that will be set in the Jazz Age and features hip-hop star Common in the title voice role.

The series is an adaptation of the indie small-press series of the same name from RavenHammer Comics and the creative team of Brian Williams and Christian Colbert. (That version of the hero is shown in the poster image above.) After the Javitts Center debut, some early content will be online by year’s end at All Def Digital, the YouTube channel from Simmons and Brian Robbins of Awesomeness TV."

Set to launch at New York Comic-Con this October, upcoming comic series 13 Coins headed out to San Diego last month with a fantastic trailer to showcase what will soon be landing on the shelves in a few months’ time.
Penned by Martin Brennan and Michael B. Jackson, the writers behind the acclaimed video game Hitman: Absolution, the series features artwork from Simon Bisley (Lobo) and Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night). And if the trailer out of Comic-Con is anything to judge by, then this is definitely one to look forward to for fans of the medium a little later this year.
From the screenwriters of Hitman: Absolution (Martin Brennan & Michael B Jackson), and acclaimed artists Simon Bisley, and Ben Templesmith, comes the story of a new superhero… The story of John Pozner, a tormented ex-con on a quest for vengeance, when he discovers that he is descended from angels, and is the living key to Earth’s future, or Heaven’s fall.
And after watching the impressive animated trailer below, you can head over to Like the comic on Facebook to be in with a chance of winning a hand-crafted sculpture by Hector Arce, inspired by Bisley’s artwork.

Nerd HQ at NYCC?

"When talking to the Huffington Post recently, Levi said his next big plan is to have The Nerd Machine set up Nerd headquarters at New York Comic-Con (which is happening in mid-October of this year).'

See more at: http://www.primerates.com/2013/8/4/entertainment/zachary-levi-and-conversations-for-a-cause-help-raise-money-at-comiccon.html#sthash.08AXV7bK.dpuf

This is from Huffington Post interview:

"We are definitely talking about very seriously doing a Nerd HQ at New York Comic Con. That would be the next stop on Nerd HQ tour. Conversations for a Cause are the real big thing for us and the big draw. It’s very important for me that wherever we do Nerd HQ, we’re able to have celebrities that fans are really excited about seeing, and are feeling like they’re getting a really special gift, and the celebrities feel like they’re able to give a special gift and you’re able to sell out those panels and the people who couldn’t make it can live stream and watch it at home like always.

We’ve been very blessed in that San Diego Comic Con, all the stars are there. I mean stars literally aligned, and so we do benefit greatly from the gathering that happens in San Diego. Other conventions don’t necessarily get that same roster and so, in order to get the caliber of talent that people would really be pining after, you have to fly them in and put them up and work their schedules out and that’s a lot of money. That’s a lot of money that we would then not get to put towards the charity, and if we could get it sponsored, if that could all be worked out in sponsorship dollars, then I’m all for it. But until we can figure out exactly how to do that, San Diego seems to be the easiest and most logical place to do what we do. New York right after that. New York is great because there are a lot of celebrities that just live there. So they’re not necessarily going to New York Comic Con, but we could reach out to them and say, ‘Hey, we’ll send a car. We want you to come and do a conversation for us.’ It’s not necessarily a San Diego Comic Con panel as much as it’s an opportunity for people to really get a more intimate experience with a cast. It’s a really intimate, off the cuff discussion where good stuff is talked about that you maybe would not get from a typically moderated panel."

Not necessarily a panel, but i wish they could get the Javitts to stay open late on Sunday and show the season premier of The Walking Dead in the IGN theater. Imagine watching the new episode with 3,000 other fans at the same time

Then they should have Chris Hardick do the Talkin Dead from the IGN theater. "We're here live with 3,000 deadheads from NYCC for the Talking Dead..." Crowd screams, awesome time is had.

We’ll see you all the Saturday afternoon of the con in room 1A01. That’s Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM, for our panel called “The Mary Sue Presents Representation In Geek Media.” Here’s a brief official description:

The Mary Sue, a geek girl culture website, is looking to gather for a discussion with panelists on representation in media and how it’s personally affected us in our lives and work, and how it affects what we consume in ”geek” culture. Panelists will discuss their favorite characters of color, LGBTQ characters, disabled characters, and female characters in genres where they are underrepresented. We seek to hear panelists’ point of view but also open it up to the audience for sharing their own stories and hope the panel will be a positive affirmation of the wide variety of characters we hope to see more of going forward.

Less than a week until almost everything is revealed. There will be a couple of last minute surprises but 98% of everything will come out on the 17th. There are a bunch of announcements queued up between now and the 17th. I can't be a tease for too much longer!

Are there some big movie panels? You don't have to be specific.

Star Wars Rebels and More at NYCC 2013

September 12, 2013

The Millennium Falcon. The A train. Coruscant. Manhattan. Star Wars hits the Big Apple at New York Comic Con 2013, October 10-13 at the Javits Center, with several panels and events -- including a revealing look at Lucasfilm's upcoming animated series, Star Wars Rebels. Check out the schedule below for a preview of what's awaiting Star Wars fans at NYCC 2013.

Star Wars Rebels: The Might of the Empire
Saturday, October 12, 2013
2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m., Room 1E
What happens when the Galactic Empire takes over a planet? What if Imperials took interest in your world, and garrisoned Stormtroopers and TIE fighters to maintain order? Star Wars Rebels, the thrilling, all-new animated television series from Lucasfilm for Disney XD will ask those questions -- and so will this panel hosted by Lucasfilm's resident Star Wars expert, Pablo Hidalgo.

Details on the show are closely guarded, but fans at NYCC will get a first look at new art from the series, and learn new information about the formidable forces of the Galactic Empire. Star Wars Rebels is set between Episodes III and IV, and it is a dark time in the galaxy. In the spirit of the original trilogy, the Empire is once again the preeminent villain of the saga, and Star Wars Rebels puts the awesome might of Imperial forces in the spotlight.

The series is still a year away, so don't miss this chance to get an early look at its development.

The surprise panel that I mentioned was the Star Wars panel. I've been so busy that I forgot that it was going to leak early on thursday. Sorry for the anticlimactic friday. Don't worry...Tuesday is just around the corner and there are some awesome panels coming. I actually have no clue how we are going to announce everything. We will have to do 2-3 announcements a day up until the show just to cover everything that is coming out on tuesday.

You know I do really like the fact that they have a Lost Girl, True Blood, Game of Thrones, etc... panels. It really is a good range of shows, I just think they need one or two more stars from each show who are the principle actors. I'm still expecting a great show.

Do ultimates only work on the main stage or main and empire. It seems like just the main stage. Does anyone know where the empire stage is or what it was last year? Brian?
Title: Re: NYCC Programming and Panels

The empire stage is completely new this year. It is our second largest panel room behind the main stage. Unfortunately Ultimates will only work for the main stage for this year.

Has the capacity for the main stage been increased this year or is it static at ~ 3,000-3,500.

What about the empire stage, where is it and do you have approximate capacities?

Main Stage 1-D (formerly the IGN) will be the same with right around 3,000 seats. Empire Stage 1-E takes over the whole E hall and will sit roughly 2,000 people. Hopefully this will give more people the opportunity to see some of the bigger panels.

Kim and Marykate tried so hard not to have Barrowman be at the same time as TWD. It is really tough to schedule everything and they put so much time and effort into trying to make the schedule work for everyone. Sometimes tough decisions have to be made. This was a tough one. It came down to either putting Barrowman into a smaller 500 seat room at a different time or putting him in a 2000 seat room at the same time as TWD. We decided that is was better to put him in a bigger room and let more people see him even thought it was at the same time as TWD. It was definitely debated but we figured more people in the room was better than less at another time.
Title: Re: NYCC Programming and Panels

at least it may ease some of the pain for people missing TWD also the liklihood is the the main stage will be full for TWD long before the Empire Stage considering AoS is the panel before and if you are in the room for AoS you're likely staying for TWD
Title: Re: NYCC Programming and Panels
Post by: MissyC on September 21, 2013, 07:52:46 AM
I am debating between Barrowman and TWD but the good thing about having it at the same time is, if I definitely can't get into TWD, I do have a shot at Barrowman, so I see it as a plus, in that manner    :)

Hey Brian - I see that David Duchovny is listed for Fri, Sat and Sun, but he's not listed for any signings or anything on Friday.  Is he actually going to be there on Friday, and in what capacity?

Also, are the Defiance people really only doing the one panel on Sunday and that's it?  No signings or photo ops?  That seems... odd.

A couple updates for programming:

First Agent M has said their will be no panel for Thor: The Dark World at NYCC:

https://twitter.com/AgentM/status/385037230668267520

Chris Hemsworth stars in "Heart of Sea" and just started filming in the Europe, last week. Tom Hiddleson is also attending events in Austraila and Korea to promote TDW, around NYCC time. So those may be some of the reasons.

Second, this is from an email from Legendary yesterday.

Quote
Are you going to NYCC? We just announced our first event: the Shadow Walk Signing taking place on Friday, October 11. Keep an eye out for more upcoming announcements.

The "upcoming announcements" are interesting. The Shadow Walk signing is at Autograph Table 5 (in Autograph area). Which probably means they won't have a booth on the show floor this year. As in the past, they've held signings at their booth. So either they are planning more signings, panels or maybe something off-site.

Back at SDCC, the Legendary staff said they were "hoping" to bring the Godzilla Encounter to NYCC. But so far, I haven't seen any promo stuff, like the did for SDCC. So I'm not expecting it to be at NYCC.

I'm sure it's legit reasons. That's why IM3 didn't work out for C2E2. There just wasn't time because of all the press/travel they were doing for the promotions.

I honestly thought maybe they'd have something for Cap2 only because I don't *think* there's another large Con before that comes out. Granted, it's not like Marvel has to do anything, if you film it, they will come.

Chris Evans is going to direct and star in a film called 1:30 train, in the fall, that looks it could partly filmed in NYC.

Though it's possible they have some other work or family issues that we don't know about.

It is up to Marvel Studios to bring content to the show. Did we ask and push for everything that you would want to see? ABSOLUTELY! They are bringing Agents of Shield and we are very happy about that! It is actually very expensive for studios to bring content and talent to a show. You also have to consider that they get a certain amount of promotional appearances for each actor in their contracts, the cost of cutting footage, prior commitments to other films, international press tours etc etc. When everything lines up well then they the come to the show like for the Avengers panel in 2011 and Agents of Shield this year. It isn't nearly as simple as "well the actor isn't doing anything and he might be in town so he should come to the show." Believe me...we wish it was that simple.

What are the odds of getting any autographs right after a panel?  Specifically, the Defiance one.  I know it's probably frowned upon or whatever, and the odds are slim to none... but I've been hoping to get the 4 main Defiance cast for a while, and they have no signings scheduled (which is still just strange to me).  This just seems like it would be a wasted opportunity to not try.  I know they're currently filming and on a tight schedule, but taking all the time to come out to NYC, only to do one little panel?  Just doesn't make much sense to me.

So, has anybody ever gotten any autos after a panel at NYCC?
