Last February of this year, I began principal photography of my short documentary on training dogs to be therapy pets and since late May (Memorial Day weekend to be exact), I had been editing it and it was finally completed as of July 9.  I called the movie "Dogs to the Rescue" and it is a 19-minute film about a clinic that trains dogs to be therapy pets and they are shown how they bring unconditional love and happiness to residents of an assisted living facility in Southern California.

I made a website promoting the movie:  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

And I made a Facebook page for it as well.  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Finally, I also edited a two-minute trailer for the film.

I submitted the film to seven film festivals (3 in Southern California, 1 in Michigan, 1 in Missouri, 1 in England and 1 in Australia).  Ten years ago, I submitted two student live-action shorts to several film festivals, but not a single one accepted either one. I am aware that competition is fierce, just like last year when I ran to be a delegate at one of the two political major party conventions. I can't predict that things will be different this time, except that unlike ten years ago, I now have a presence on IMDb.com (in fact, my film is already listed on that site) and it is I think more professionally made than my two student live-action shorts from ten years ago. I'm still debating if I should make a press kit.

EDIT 7/31/17, 2:47pm PDT:  OK, I did my best to fix the audio issues in the trailer, hope it sounds a little better.

Looks interesting!  I will say that from about 0:40 to 1:12 I can barely hear the woman because the music is too loud, but otherwise great work on the trailer!

So cool Andrew!! Great work! I'm truly envious of those that have this creative ability, talent and desire.

ps - I do agree though with kohyuta that at that 40 second mark on for a bit her voice lowers and it is hard to distinguish what she is saying.

Thanks everybody.  I just fixed the audio on the trailer so I will upload the trailer again with the improved audio.  I did have a professional sound mixer fix the audio on the 19-minute film so there are no issues there.

Agree...this is wonderful work to have a documentary about!  The people who get to be with with them seem so comforted.
It is 2024, and I am still asking...where's my flyin' car??!! @fannishmarcia

I am happy to announce that my short documentary "Dogs to the Rescue" will be one of the short films shown at the 2017 Columbia Gorge International Film Festival at Big Bear Lake, California.  The festival will be held Sept. 18-24, 2017.  More details to come.
