I believe it was about 9:06 that people started to get in for this particular sale (based on the yellow status box saying that people were getting in).

As an aside, am I the only person who gets ticked off wat the 'be patient, we are slowly letting people in to buy' messages? I mean, these people are buying MY badges and CCI is telling me to be patient? Sheesh!!!!!!  ;D

Ha, and I'm always at least a little reluctant to say "Good luck everyone!", because if everyone got good luck, that means my chances at a badge go waaaaay down. I think the next time I'll say, "Best of luck... if you're a regular FoCC member... with more than 100 posts... and if you've ever liked one of my posts."

I love hearing stories like this! This is why we work so hard to run buying groups on FoCC. As we work together, we are stronger. [member=7390]clambert1273[/member]  is awesome and I am so glad that her group's first run out went so well!

This was my first time around the Returning Reg block and had no clue about buying groups until after the sale was complete. Luckily my wife and I ended up with at least Sunday. Live and learn!

I’m so Thankful for our Buying Group and @Jristen and @NCDS for all that they do in putting these google workbooks together and providing assistance when we need help. Can’t wait to see everyone at SDCC 2019.

wait so does the reference number you get from your receipt equal the place you were in line ?

Nope, there’s no line. Everyone is in a pool and are randomly chosen from that pool.

I think what ToryRoxx meant was once the sorting is done, you have a queue/line number. At least that's what I took it to mean.

Now that most of us (I assume) have received our credit card confirmations, the last step is waiting for our barcodes, even though they're irrelevant since we now have our badges mailed to us.  Last year, most of us did not receive them, leading some of us to either contact CC or Epic to get them.

And no, I have not received any barcodes yet.

Not to mention that this year it wasn't exactly "slow"!

Yup. I was wondering if the number associated with our emailed reciept was our queue/ticket number

Yeah that was what I’m wondering too. And that a way to tell if there were less tickets is if the number was much lower for an equivalent ticket last year.

Just wanted to chime in with a thanks to this forum and the [member=4801]BenEatsRice[/member] buying group.  Without this forum, all the great info, and cool people here, I may have never attended SDCC at all.  This year a group member was able to get me my first Preview Night pass and I got in and was able to buy badges for other group members.  It felt good to help out the buying group after being being helped by the group the past two times I attended SDCC.

On to Open Reg, I will be trying to help my BFF get badges so he can attend his first SDCC.

I’m wondering if the order reference numbers are actually done in the order bought. I got in very early and I noticed this year that the number after the 777 was very low

Looking at past cons:

2016: only got Sunday in open reg. The number was Over 100,000
2017: got 4 days preview night in open reg. Number 79,000 something.
2018: 4 days in ret reg. The number was 56,000 something. I then managed to get preview night in open reg and the reference number was 86,000
2019 got in super fast and the number is less than 50,000 to put it mildly.

ETA: Please don’t post your actual order reference numbers.

If you want more data, here are mine. It’s all from pre/returning registration and 2016-2018 may be good for comparison since all those years I was in early enough for PN.

2016:  2 badges 4+PN
order: 777-5xxx49
badges: 777-5xxx54, 777-5xxx53

2017: 3 badges had option for PN but chose 4 day
order 777-1xxx
badges: 777-1xx4, 777-1xx5, 777-1xx6

2018: 3 badges had option for PN but chose 4 day
order 777-2xx57
badges: 777-2xx64, 777-2xx68, 777-2xx71

2019: 3 badges Sunday only
order 777-4xxx5

Yeah, I think the order numbers seem to indicate at least one of the following

  • There were less tickets available
Less abandonment during the sale (people dropping off either cause the tickets they wanted were all sold out or someone got their tickets already)

I suspect that less badges may have been available and that they may have let more ppl in to buy. It’s also pretty known (at least I think it is) that you can buy and not go and still be eligible for the following year since it seems ppl who didn’t go/didn’t have a badge scanned were invited to participate.
