The Metropolitan Transportation Authority now says the 7 train line extension to the West Side will open in the second quarter of this year. The opening has been pushed back time several times. This time around, testing issues with elevators and escalators inside the new station at 34th Street and 11th Avenue is to blame.MTA officials say the new station will help serve the West Side's redevelopment and provide better access to the Jacob Javits Center.
I commute using the 7-Train everyday; and from my experience it usually doesn't run on the weekend. So even if it does get extended to the Javits, don't expect it to work efficiently, or runs on the weekend. You can still, however, take the bus to the Javits, from various Subway entrance;I'm surprised not many people have chosen that option.
