Title: SDCC 2018 Foodie night?
Post by: alyssa on October 28, 2017, 03:59:41 PM
Hi all,

While i know it's going to be a while before we can commit, I don't even know if i can commit, I wanted to put the idea out there and gauge interest.
I'm open to suggestions for a place--- if anyone wants to poke around for a good restaurant, that'd be great
I can make a reservation with the idea that i can cancel

Tagging the nycc foodie group & others who have made their foodieness known to me ;)

If I could humbly intrude, I would be SO in for this! I find that I am more and more going to SDCC for the people more than the programming to the point that I’m staying more days before and after than I am for the Con just so I can be at all the meet ups.

oh this is open to everyone - but it will be expencive - NYCC was a $80 per person. I'll dig up the pic & post them

Oh, I’m totally in, and so would my foodie friend Chris. $80 sounds perfectly reasonable to me. It sounds like an outstanding event!

I should be in! Since I didn't get preview night for SDCC, I guess I could use the $45 for a foodie night. Lol.

Provided there are no Hall H lines for me to get into the night before, I'm up.

I would love to be part of this. I never know where to eat when in SD & would love to get out of my bad habits of only going to places I know.

I wish I could be a part of this, but unfortunately I won't be able to make it to next year's SDCC. I will be working on a theatre project in Wisconsin and I'm driving from New York City. Maybe 2019? Thanks for the invite though! I hope everyone who attends next year's Foodie Night will love it. I expect to see pictures.

[member=7050]Xircuits[/member]  ARGG, I am sorry to hear you won't be at SDCC next year! I wanted to introduce you to another tech, Mel.  She's another kindred spirit ;)
Maybe i'll get [member=2226]Mel[/member] and her wife to come to NYCC..... /plot hatching/

Just making sure everyone knows- this will be an expensive meal - like in the $100 per person range-- and i assume it will be dressy casual --
This is not a forum meet up- it's just folks who like to try new, good food getting together.

I be interested, while not over-brave when it comes to different types of food, if it's on the fringe of what I like, count me in :)

So I'm going to be super lame and on the fence.

If you have a date/time and a menu, then I will see if I can go and if my (not-so-brave) taste buds/food allergies can accommodate.

Depending on the night and genre of food I may be interested. Wow, that was incredible non-committal. :-\

Count me and my group in. We usually stay at the Hard Rock but will go anywhere for good food and drink

I would definitely join if it's either the Double Standard or the Pushkin Russian (provided I don't have to stand in any Hall H lines then).

I'm interested for both my husband and me. Can't 100% commit, but this sounds like a lot of fun. And all those restaurants look great to me. We haven't been to any of them -- but Juniper & Ivy and Double Standard would be top on my list (although we'd attend for any of them).

I know how it goes & assume there will be a lot of folks who would like to go but will be double booked ;)

I think i'm going to try an make a reservation for the friday- for about 10-15 people- once the schedule comes out i'll be asking for firm commitments - and remember even I am unsure if i can make this. It is not an official meet up, just a bunch of foodies getting together for a nice upscale meal.

There’s a bunch of stuff that can and will interfere

That’s why I’m not looking for people to commit this early. Just putting the idea out there.
I’ve also found that planing to do stuff earlier seems to work better. And Friday night was light for the parties
I am going to try and do the Eisners but maybe not till later, idk, regardless, if something happens to me and I’m not able to attend I’ll pass leadership (reservation) into someone else’s name

I know I will commit on Friday provided there is not another "Sharknado" panel on Friday night (can't get enough of Tara Reid!).

Ok, this is last minute and I'm not good with organizing large parties.  Anyone interested in joining mean in any of the following after the Tuesday afternoon meetup?

Brazilian Steakhouse (Rei do Gado or Fogo De Chao)
Werewolf and All You Can Eat Tacos
Tapas
Persian Food (Bandar).

Would love to but we made plans to do the Shakespeare Pub on Tuesday evening. They have a cool little shop as well. Maybe we can coordinate some evenings. We want to also do the Russian place
