MySched

I like keeping track of how popular panels are on MySched. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

At this point this year, I've noticed a number of things that struck me as odd and/or inconsistent with years past. I realize that they've only rolled the full schedule out these past few days (with it not being complete until yesterday), but popularity for Thursday panels shot up fairly quickly after they were rolled out whereas it hasn't been the case with the other days from what I've seen.

The #1 panel is one where the content hasn't even been announced yet (20th Century Fox) with 1323 guests. It will probably go higher, but I'm not sure if it will reach the numbers that #1 got in the past (from 3000-5000) The #3 panel (Netflix Surprise Screening) hasn't been announced yet either.

Stranger Things is at #2...but that makes sense. Good call on them placing it in Hall H.

Game of Thrones is currently at #4. From 2013-2016 it was #1 and 2012 it was #2 only behind Serenity. Most years it had 3500+, even 4500+ listed attendees. It will probably not be #1 this year since Stranger Things is already higher and was announced later.

Marvel's Inhumans (#5) and The Defenders (#6) are more popular than Marvel Studio's Hall H panel (#7)??

I know John Barrowman is popular, but Top 10???  The last few years IIRC he was in the 20s-30s.

Interesting.  #11 is Legion and #12 is the BSG Reunion.

I was hoping lots of people would leave after BSG and I could breeze in and get great seats for Legion.  Oops.

Hmm. If this is even remotely correct, Ballroom 20 is going to be MUCH harder to get into than Hall H on Thursday.

Things are shifting.  Stranger Things is now #1.

Walking Dead was higher up last year, as I recall.

Some busts in Hall H seem to be Fear the Walking Dead (#29) and Twin Peaks (#45).  I was surprised they put Twin Peaks in Hall H.

I think this is still settling. Believe it or not, a lot of people don't look at the schedule until it is entirely released, so this would really be the first day where people re checking stuff out.

Also keep in mind that even if people put a panel on their mysched it doesn't always mean they will attend.  I personally put my plan a, b, and c panels all on there so I can look at a glance.

While true, this also applies across the board to all panels...so once the entries are settled, MySched is usually a pretty good indicator of how popular they will be.

I agree. It's terrible for actual numbers - I use it to mark anything I'm interested in as well, which is sometimes as many as three conflicting panels -  and I'm sure lots of people just don't use it at all. But enough people use it that you can at least get an idea of how popular something is in relation to other panels at the same time.

Oh yea, I don't disagree that it can tell us what is most popular in relation to everything else. I meant it more in the vain of don't be discouraged and lose hope based on the numbers in mysched.

I've developed pretty good techniques over the years to gauge demand based on MySched's popular panels.  For one thing, I avoid any panel in the top 10.  My goal with Comic-con is to have a low queue time to panel time ratio.  I try to maximize panel time while minimizing how much time I spend in line for panels.

It's also good for being able to tell when a room will be emptying out.

ty so much for the tip. I think Capt Jack is top 10 because it's Thursday, not much competition and think he was late Sunday in the past.  This means I gotta get my ass in line EARLY!   i just posted for help, but no one so far.

The order is starting to make a bit more sense now. Stranger Things has pretty much secured #1, and Marvel and WB have moved into #2 and #3. Game of Thrones #4 now, has clearly been "dethroned" after a four-year run at #1 on MySched.

On Thursday, not only is Hall H probably going to be walk-in all day, it's going to be empty most of the day. Only 232 attendees signed up for Brigsby Bear, and 502 for Teen Wolf. Anyone who wants to go to Hall H just to say you got into Hall H, go on Thursday. :X
