Anyone interested in forming a group for 2015? Based on the 2014 track record *and* the google doc's used for the 2015 sdcc, I'm assuming we could get a decent group together & work for each others tickets.
Consider this an 'interest' thread.
-
I'm in of course! :)
Looking forward to another FoCCI conquer!
-
I am in.
-
There was an reference on FB to ticket information being released in the spring.
I can only hope the sale will happen earlier then last year- i think/hope that would reduce the 'frenzy' surrounding the sale.
-
I'm in too!
-
I'm in....I think lol. What is this again? Like if someone is in que you'll buy others in the group tickets?
-
yes, kinda sorta.
the kink is however, since tickets aren't tied to a name a much higher level of trust is required.
-

To tell you the truth, I'm only trusting when someone like you buys my ticket! :) Unfortunately, NYCC tickets are not as secure as SDCC badges. If you can buy me a Ultimate VIP ticket like last time, I'll happily pay you right away.
-
I'm in again and hopefully this year, if i recall correctly not everyone got help last year, everyone will be able to obtain their desired badge. Count me in the docs process again as well.
Nic
-
i haven't set up the doc yet...i figure we have some time <grin>
when i get to it, i'll send out a PM via the forum for inclusion into the doc.
-
I'd love to be part of a buying group if it's open to forum members. Last year I had to buy on my phone because my work web browser was too outdated, but we finally got updated.
-
I'm in too. Should be registered for the pre-sale.
-
I think we'd be interested in this.
-
So what would be the process to join a buying group? Since I'm new to it, and usually done my ticket purchase solo these past years.
-
after a bit we'll put a google doc together & invite folks to it. prob after gen reg for sdcc & before April
there's less security due to method but most of the folks who've expressed an interest are either good forum members and/or were part of the buying group last year
-
I'm actually interested; but my only concern if I was the one able to get in the purchasing process for VIP, I don't know if I'll be able to purchase in a large amount of number of VIP tickets.
-
i think that can be overcome. i don't know how at this point tho
-
I guess I'll join in on a group, and figure out all the technical issues as we all go along.
-

Wow, I thought it was only my company that has outdated browers. Unfortunately, this year I'm going to WonderCon, SDCC, and D23, so I will not be able to go to NYCC, but I would be willing to join a buying group and buy for the members of our forum.
-
I would like to join the group, i would love to get a special access vip badge again.
-
Hey there,
Alyssa i hope you are doing very well. I am in for the group, this year i need 3 VIP tickets for em and my 2 friends. Last year i could not get one when i tried by myself but this year i am up to coperaty this ealy so all of us can get what we need. :)
-
I AM DEFINITELY IN SOMEONE HELP ME GET A VIP TICKET I WOULD BE BLESSED TO HAVE WEEKEND TOO SO LET ME JOIN THE BUYING GROUP TOO!
-
I am in as well...I tried to lone wolf SDCC this year, and failed horribly. Joined up with alyssa's group last year and was able to score the VIP (much thanks again BTW!). I'll be trying also for two others (three total). Congrats to you all who got SDCC badges...will definitely try joining a group for 2016!
-

OK, I decided that I'll participate as well as help out buy tickets for others, but only with people I know well on this board.
EDIT: I'm probably not eligible to participate in the pre-sale, but even if someone gets me a ticket at pre-sale, I will help to buy tickets for others at the regular sale.
-
Let's all help each other!
-
I'm in Omraged9's group for SDCC, and I would like to help with a group for NYCC. Alyssa nice job today on CupOTea.

i'm hopefully i get a chance to pull the spreadsheet together shortly.
-
Yes Thank you!
-
Hey Guys!!
yeah lets help each other, then we will have more chances to get what we need. Last year i got late so i was not in the group but this year i am definitely in. Does anybody know if the spreadsheet is already out for us signing in?
Getting excited about this :)
-
I think we still gotta see what the limit on VIP we can purchase first. Last year I think it was up to 6 ( if I remeber correctly), but seems to be a lot complaint about the amount 1 person can purchase, so chance is that the amount a person can purchase may be decrease -- and I think it's a good thing against scalpers.
-
@alexnyy7 spreadsheet is not out yet if I am correct
-
Thank you @andre30496 ;) appreciate the update. I will keep checking in so i know how to help
-
Definitely interested in joining a VIP ticket buying group. IF anyone wants to form one or has a spot I'm in.
-
If I joined a group for NYCC how much is the most I might have to spend?
-

Considering the price for regular VIP is $195, and Ultimate is $495; you may have to spend at least 200+. Also since I'm guessing if we were to buy in group you may have to spend more depending on how many tickets you're getting.

Well, that's just the problem. My credit card has a limit so I couldn't buy for 10 people if it's $495 each. I could buy for 5 at most at that price. If I'd have buy for more people than that if I joined a group it's best I don't join one then.

Buying more than one is also one of my concern; but as Alyssa mentioned it can probably be overcome for a few of the members ( I'm assuming).
Also I don't think you will be able to buy up to 10; last time VIP were limit to 6 each for pre-VIP sale. But I hope this year ReedPop will reduce that number to counter against scalpers.
-
the UA's were about $450 each with a limit of 2

So the first piece we have to establish and understand is this thread should really be called NYCC VIP Ticket Buying Group because that's really what everyone on here who would need help or a buying group would be a part of. You don't need a buying group for a regular 4 day, 3 day or single day ticket ... well at least not yet! ;)
That being said, I recall the VIP limit was 4 per person. So you would need to be able to cover between $800 to $2000 transaction (4 Special Access VIP tixs to 4 Ulitmate Access VIP tixs). If you can only afford the one for yourself or even just one other person, that sort of defeats the purpose, benefit or goal of a buying group. The whole point is banking and hoping that someone makes it in, buys for themselves and can now buy for 3 others. If not, there's an equity issue ... one would be asking others to do something for them that they're unable/unwilling to do for others. Very counter to the purpose of "Buying Group."
Now there is a work around but it's even more predicated on the trust system ... Get one of the members you are buying for to use their credit card. So if you get "in" then call/text/contact a person in need and have them put up their credit card. The BIG trust factor is they have to communicate their credit card and personal info to that person who will enter it. It's asking a lot, but it can/does work.
So my apologies if I'm speaking out of line or turning anyone off, but if you're unable to buy for others (regardless of reason), you really probably shouldn't be part of this "buying group."
-
Also if you were not a vip last year you probably won't be able to purchase vip tickets before the general public.
Maybe we need a separate buying group for last years vip badge holders first.

yes, i'll change the title

No, i could only buy 2 UA's, not 4.

agreed. by signing up for the buying group, a person is agreeing to buy to their limit of that particular tix type. For example, i'm going for SA's, if i get in I'm expected to buy the max limit of SA's. I would not expect someone to buy BOTH SA's & UA's. There just isn't enough time to get both.
Now there is a work around but it's even more predicated on the trust system ... Get one of the members you are buying for to use their credit card. dove tailing on this,
To folks who are worried abt the $800 on their cc's. you will get paid back that day via paypal. If you do not get paid back quickly, i am sure you can find someone to buy the extra vip pass. Failing that, i am doubly sure if the pass is put on ebay for the original price + expenses, it will be bought quickly.
-
So if I understand right if I just wanted regular 4 days I wouldn't need to join a group and I could just buy some the day they go on sale?
iirc, the 4 day tix sold out within the first hr of the gen sale
Also if you were not a vip last year you probably won't be able to purchase vip tickets before the general public.
Maybe we need a separate buying group for last years vip badge holders first.
iirc, the gen sale was comprised of a bunch of folks from pre sale so it follows that this year, the pre-sale will use the same form for gen sale. There will be additions & subtractions of course.
-
So if I understand right if I just wanted regular 4 days I wouldn't need to join a group and I could just buy some the day they go on sale?
No. Not yet. As long as you are on top of it, you should be OK to get regular 4 days. It's only the VIP tixs that are in such high demand and sell out so quick that help and a buying group is truly needed.
-
Maybe we need a separate buying group for last years vip badge holders first.
You might be right. I sort of forgot about this. They had a priority pre-sale for past VIP ticket buyers. Then it was maybe just a day or two later they had a general VIP ticket sale.
Alyssa - Maybe like with SDCC we do need 2. Pre-Reg and General. What do you think?
-
as i said up thread,
the pre-sale list will morph into the gen-sale list.
i'm working on getting the special doc for ticket sales.... Hopefully I'll start setting it up tomorrow
-
i think we first need to gather the people who are eligible for the pre-sale for the pre-sale; then we do need to have time for a quick turnaround to combine the list for the gen sale.
I don't want to be harsh, but I do have to agree that anyone joining a VIP GB has to be able to help the group, but as alyssa says you will be paid that day. there is more of a trust issue here from both sides. With sdcc your name is on the badge and if I buy for you using your member id, you still get an email. here if i buy for you i get the tickets there may have to be a verification
I know in pre-sale there was a 4 tick vip limit, but I only tested the UAs with 1 ticket so not sure if they did limit those to 2 per person
we can also consider a reg badge gb, for people looking for regular passes
-
the idea is that the folks who are successful in pre stick around for gen
Plus pre folks may get lucky & be able to buy for gen folks
we can color folks differently if they have pre-reg.
but i think the only folks who get to buy in pre sale are folks who actually bought last year.
-
the google doc is in place & i've added a couple of folks for feedback.
Rules of the group; sorry if this is overbearing, i just don't want to go out of my way for someone who's not going to return the favor.

Hello Alyssa, thank you so much for all your such a hard work. Deferentially here to help as well as everybody is. I have just one doubt, since last year i was able to pull out a VIP ticket, thanks god!! but as you would imagine it was 3 times price , i wonder how i do know if i am the pre-sale eligible? who are pre-sale eligible? how do you find it out?.
Thank you

If you bought a vip ticket from anywhere other than NYCC, then you are not eligible for the NYCC presale.
-
I'm also eligible for the pre-sale.
But also I have to purchase 2 extra for my friends; so I'm still a bit unsure if I'll be able to purchase any extra as well -- since I don't normally buy in bulk.
-
I should have a pre-sale. I'll be getting press again (Hopefully) this year, but I'd love to help out anyone else who needs it.
-
If its still 4 UA VIP tix per person, I can help out when tix go on sale. I also have pre-sale access if they are doing it this year.
-
I thought it was 2 UA & 4 SA's last year
-
ah yes, lol I meant to say 4 SA.
-
As a data point, last year during the pre-sale, I purchased 3 UA's and 1 SA.
-

And he sold one to me. Don't think I forgot. Of I get lucky I hope to return the favor
-
hummm wonder why i was only able to get 2 UA's when i bought.... was there a difference between the pre sale & the gen sale amts?
-
I remember the SA limit was 6 last year, and pretty sure UA was more than 2 limit. Perhaps maybe it was the allocated amount during the period where someone was able to get a hold of the maximum amount, and you may saw the current amount that were left over.

Anyone get word on any presage info?

I heard they wont do retail tix this year based off one comic book store post on FB. It could be a false rumor but they happen to sell NYCC last year so it might be harder to get VIP tix as everyone will be hammering the site worst than last year. I hope they don't limit it to 2 UA/SA per person. Hopefully presale tix are still a go :D
-
it does not surprise me if there wouldn't be any vendor/store sales this year-
if i were a store i wouldn't want the sale- too much hassel plus it can't bring in that much money. the only thing i'd be sorry abt it being able to distribute tix to my staff & regular customers.
-
I'm guessing after last year there may not be in store sales, except maybe midtown...
I think the issue is that last year too may stores only got lines for people that wanted to buy but that didn't really help the store, like it was intended. That and there were some stores that had some shady practices with selling them.
If I were a store I would consider buying the tickets and just throughout a month stick them in random bags of people who make purchases at my store. That is more likely to get people to come into my store in the future than the one day that tons of people show up but really only buy the badge only to not be seen for another year.
-
I know from last year, that at least one store said, the won't sell tickets because they were concerned for their safety. Reedpop wasn't happy with how a couple of stores handled ticket sales either.
-
I would like to join a NYCC buying group. I had an excellent time with last's year's SDCC group and lucked out someone in the group was able to get tickets for me. I hope to have the same or better luck this year and maybe pay it forward.

oddly it was at nycc'14
i had gotten into a signing of a marvel group <an amazing event> Kevin showed up towards the end of it. It was kinda unfortunate tho. the original plan was to take over a large set of steps and get all the creators there to pose. it would have been an amazing collection of old & new artists and writers. But everyone wanted to talk to Kevin. i didn't particularly want to talk but he seemed nice.

They usually split up the general sale by doing 4 day (and VIP?) together and having a different day for 3 day and single day tickets...I wonder if they have accounted for this as well as the no presale.
-
Yes, good point
If all tix are to be sold on the 13th that will increase the server load
-
Looking to join a buying group, realized after my excitement of the sale date, I am flying out of town that morning. I may land in time to log on to get tickets for the 2-3 of us looking to get tickets, but looking for a potential backup.

Looking to join a buying group, realized after my excitement of the sale date, I am flying out of town that morning. I may land in time to log on to get tickets for the 2-3 of us looking to get tickets, but looking for a potential backup.
I'll go ahead and add you to the nycc buying group area but given the 2 tix limit we might have some restrictions.....

Where is the separate thread for buying?

it's in the information archives area

folks who've indicated they're interested in a buying group,
I need you to check into the Planning thread in the buying group area. We **can** get the tix we want but we **have** to work together with a plan. There is a plan in place & I know it works but I need everyone on board.

Hi Alyssa, I dont think I have access to that buying group area.

you are now part of the nycc buying group.

Hi Alyssa
Maybe it's me but there are a lot of NYCC strands all dealing with the same topic. Any thought to merge them all possibly?
-
How can I be added to the buying group? I can buy the max of each type and only need 1 for myself . I missed out on the vip last year because of the queue glitch.

yes there is thought to it but i had hoped to keep one for announcements another for chat & the third for the buying group. As you can see that worked out well

Hi Folks,
I know I'm a little late to this party, but I just recently made the decision to head to NY during early Oct so I figure I might as well try for NYCC.
I'll be going for a solo UA, but I wanted to see if you guys could use an extra body to try and get some other tickets. I'm new here, so I don't want to burden anyone with trying to snag me one, those UA passes aren't cheap. But I'd be willing to get some extra passes for others if I'm able to get through the queue.
Just let me know if you would like me to do anything.

Yeah, i was wondering how the ticket buying group would work with the 2 tix limit. yeesh. 3 of us are fending for tickets but the odds are so low for helping others.

Sigh
Just found out that I will likely not be by a computer for the on sale. Anyone who can help me out with 2x SA TIXX I'll be happy to provide my cc num or PayPal payment asap
Thanks

Morning all!! literally over 24 hours until madness starts. I was busy lately but ready for tomorrow. guys there is any ad-judgements or changes to our group beside that now each can buy just 2 VIP per person? i am setting up a second Pc so i can try catch 4 tickets so i can give 1 to the group the extra. I am not sure if i can manage to have more than 2 pcs at the same time and have the time to buy them before they disappear from my car.
There is any suggestions?

Anyone ever try buying NYCC tickets via mobile phone?
-
Well atm, I can't update Google Doc, but I need at least 1 SA incase I can't get mine tomorrow. Other than that, I hope we all get the passes we all wanted tomorrow.
-
Just got my Dear John letter from the NYCC Pro Team. heh Glad I found out before the sale though. So , I'm going to attend as a fan. I'm buying for 2 (my 3rd friend dropped out.) Can I be added to the buying group please?

Last year I bought my ticket through my phone...this year I hope my browsers at work are up to date.
-
When you buy tickets, do you just click on the link and it enters you into the queue similar to SDCC?
-
yes, last year there was some problems with the linkage so be sure to have social media up in case a work around is announced

I usually use another chat messenger for google chat but in hangouts I'm searching for some of the people who have their IDs in the document and only find them when I enter complete email address.
Just in case anyone wasn't aware of that
