Let’s talk SDCC Banners
« on: May 18, 2019, 04:13:01 PM »
I’m guessing Disney will have the Lion King for the downtown banners and HBO will have His Dark Materials for theirs along the Gaslamp trolley route.  Maybe Watchmen or Westworld.   Thoughts about those or NBC’s Tinfish ones?

Do you think that's because the shirts are always DC?

Banners have almost always been MCU, but the only MCU property with any promo material so far is Far From Home, and that premieres before con.  Then again, they did put up generic Avengers Infinity War stuff last year before End Game was even announced, so maybe they'll just put up other MCU stuff to get hyped.  There's a lot coming, just not a lot of promo stuff ready yet.

And for the buses, since it's been Game of Thrones for years and that's over, I'm guessing they'll do either His Dark Materials or Watchmen.  It's possible they'll do Westworld, but that's also a ways out.  So I'm not sure.

I actually expect a pretty strong Westworld presence to get people hyped and bring it back into our consciousness, especially with the new trailer drop. I could see them plastering it pretty generously around.

I keep going back and forth.  When I made my post I was leaning His Dark Materials and Watchmen, but now I've watched that Westworld trailer a couple more times and like... the hype is real.  Dang.  Maybe they can mix it up on the buses and do all three.  Don't know.

Fro whatever reason I missed Season 2 (will probably catch up in the near future), and when I watched that trailer I was all, "um...is there going to be an actual Westworld in the Westworld TV show: WTH happened?!  Also, Jesse Pinkman is on the show now?!"  I must've missed tooooooons
