Tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30pm, I'll be at the Videology Bar & Cinema in Brooklyn to see a NYCC-sponsored event called "What Were They Thinking?  The Worst Music Videos of the 80s Explained."  Should be interesting.

Unfortunately that wasn't included.  Hall and Oates took a ribbing but "Family Man" wasn't included.  The first video under attack was "TV Dinners" from ZZ Top, because that video was nothing like the other three the band made ("Gimmie All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Men" and "Legs.").  Another video that got piled on was "Separate Ways" from Journey.  The audience cracked up when that video was played.  Another was the battleship jump scene in Guns 'n Roses "Estranged."  "Alphabet City" from Prince was another.  Basically videos shot on video instead of film were doomed to failure.  One of the many reasons some videos were so bad was because drugs were involved in some cases.  Pretty interesting.
