Nerd HQ tweeted back in January that they were returning for 2017. I thought that everyone already knew. :)I saw that while I was doing some research last night however it did not include the location. Still good info to pass along.

Wonder what could be screened there this year? Spider-man comes out before the con. I can't think of anything due in late July.

Valerian would be an awesome choice, comes out 7/21.I'd say there is a very good chance this will have a screening or two.
I'd say there is a very good chance this will have a screening or two.
Warner Brothers always has a screening. Maybe Annabelle 2?
What about The Dark Tower? That would be cool.
Normally I put a list of movies together so I looked through and just decided to do it now :P.I don't think Dunkirk will be shown beforehand as it comes out the weekend of SDCC.
Valerian
Dunkirk
Atomic Blonde
Emoji Movie (pls god no)
Annabelle 2
Nut Job 2
Baby Driver
Panels make sense but prolly too far away for showings:
Kingsman 2
Lego Ninjago
IT reboot
Blade Runner 2049
My Little Pony
Justice League
Thor: Ragnarok (D23 so prolly not)
Coco (D23 so prolly not)
Star Wars: The Last Jedi (D23 so prolly not)
Jumanji reboot
Maze Runner: The Death Cure
The Predator
Black Panther (D23 so prolly not)
Pacific Rim: Uprising
Deadpool 2
Wreck it Ralph 2 (D23 so prolly not)
Tomb Raider
Ready Player One.
That takes us to March 2018... there could be other movies but there's plenty in there for a very solid SDCC this year.
Warner Brothers always has a screening. Maybe Annabelle 2?Would really love it if Dark Tower came. I really need to re-read the series, maybe while I wait in line at SDCC ;)
What about The Dark Tower? That would be cool.
How much have they even filmed for Dark Tower? For some reason I thought that was still in the earlier stages of production. I may just be out of the loop.
Also, I've read at least a dozen Stephen King books, but not that series. I should maybe fix that before it comes out.
But looking at the film list, please oh please oh please bring Pacific Rim. PLEASE. If there is an SDCC God please grant this wish.
They finished filming last July but it's been in post-production. It was originally supposed to release this Feb but they pushed it to July 28th.
It's good to go into the DT series having read lots of other King books, won't give away much but many characters from other stories find their way into the series.
All his books tie in to one another..... but the DT series really brings it home.

I haven't heard of this before. Is it a party? An offsite? It seems long for a party but short for an offsite...
I found some information about the next Heroes Brew Craft Beer Fest--

It looks like it will be back at the Waterfront Park.
Granted, the website still has a lot of old info from last year and needs to be updated, but it does state "San Diego's Waterfront Park transforms into a Craft Beer Comic Book Saturday, July 22nd" and "Tickets go on sale soon!" and "Stay Tuned!".

Is there a list of kid friendly offsite events?
Is there a list of kid friendly offsite events?
He asked Ryan Reynolds what it was like the first time he said the Green Hornet oath
The Hall H line isn’t really an offsite — but… I've seen people make it into a great family experience. I met a man and his son one year. They spent their time treating the line like a Boy Scout camping trip and thinking of stellar questions for the son to ask the panels. He asked Ryan Reynolds what it was like the first time he said the Green Hornet oath and was rewarded with being taken back stage afterwards to meet Reynolds and pose with photographers. It was the first time Reynolds had publicly said the oath. A few years later I saw the same kid telling the panel at the first Lego Movie — “Don’t screw this up”. It seemed like this father and son took something that most people hate (the hall h line) and really made it into something special. Also - Indigo often does a dog event on their upstairs patio. One year they gave out star wars tennis balls. Kids seem to like the break from the Con and the chance to pet a few dogs.
MST3K will be doing two live shows during SDCC. They sent a backer update today with the list of live shows. July 21 doing Eegah @7pm, July 22 doing a Secret Surprise Movie @7pm. No details on where. Tickets go on sale for backers tomorrow and they will send an email for the link. Email also says that for Eegah it will be new riffs, secret movie won't be announced (yet?...). Shows will have Jonah and the bots plus Joel as emcee.
SDCCUBlog said in their article it'll be at the Balboa Theater.I hope that doesn't mean no Nerdist shows :(. Always is one of my favorite offsites of the whole weekend.

Thanks! I was just about to edit, the official press release on their website now has locations. They probably kept things simple for the backer email. If you are a backer, just a heads up we get to purchase tomorrow while public on sale is Friday.I haven't read the backer e-mail does it say that shows in other cities will be all the same cast listed for the SDCC shows? They will be in my city Aug. 3 so I am debating seeing them here to free up time in San Diego! The mystery show is propbably gonna be pretty awesome though... decisions decisions!
Have you guys bought tickets already to offsite events?
I am terrified I am not gonna get tickets and Felicia Day, Patton Oswalt and Wil Wheaton are all gonna show up! I am also praying to the Con Gods for Fundays tickets on Weds so I may just let things play out an see if any tickets are open closer to SDCC! ???
So for Balboa park stuff: how easy is it to get there during the con? I've had to do Ubers/Lyfts/Taxis to do HopCon, which has been worth it. Never done anything at Balboa before and not sure how feasible it is. Last time I went there I was with someone who lived in San Diego so I had the luxury of just being driven there.
Super easy. Balboa Park is just right up 6th Ave a few blocks from the Gaslamp. You could even walk if you really felt like it, but a Lyft would be cheap and easy. And if you check the bus routes, I'm sure it's a single short bus ride as well.
I wouldn't say Balboa Park is walking distance. It's up Park Blvd (between 11th & 13th, not 6th), and it's a good 2.5-3 miles to where any events would be taking place (I know last year there was something at the Fleet Science Center, not sure if anything is going on this year).
There are a couple buses that pick up on Broadway that will go straight to the Park. Last year we took an Uber from Little Italy and it was like 6 dollars.
Balboa Park is really big and yes, it is right up 6th Ave. The El Prado bridge off of 6th Avenue is the traditional/iconic entrance to the park. There are several ways to enter, but I'd recommend this way as it takes you right into the heart of the park and the Plaza de Panama. I'm not trying to argue here, but I'm a San Diegan and I know my park.I guess I was thinking that places like Fleet (and I was using Fleet as the example because its the only Balboa Park spot I defintively remembered having an offsite) would be easier to walk to via Park, but I Googled it and it is pretty equal, and your way would definitely be more scenic. But either way more of a walk than I'd want to commit to. Can I walk 2.5 miles? Sure. Do I want to spend an hour getting somewhere during Comic Con? Nope. That's just me though!

How about the Game of Thrones musical? That's where the cool kids will be hanging out! And, uh, by 'cool kids', I mean me. ;)

I'd recommend the GOT musical as well. I'm going to it Thursday night now, had originally booked saturday but they were super nice about changing it to the Thursday.Where is she playing? DH is a huge fan!
Which I was v grateful for as I'm going to a Michelle Branch gig in San Diego Saturday night now instead. You could check out her concert if you like her music.

Actually, this year is at the same date range as last year. The year before last, it was earlier in July.
I did look through last year, and they had already made the announcement about the Star Trek movie premiere (May 20). So, I am guessing no big event like that, but that is just a guess. That was tied with the Star Trek Fan Event, so maybe that is why it was announce when it was.
Heck, it's all just guesses at this point. I do agree that it is a bit early to get super worried.

Game Masters: The Exhibition--This is really neat!
Fleet Science Center
"Game Masters: The Exhibition showcases the world’s best video game designers, from the arcade era to today’s console and online games. And with 100+ playable games, it’s game on! (No quarters needed.)
The work of more than 30 designers who have made a significant impact in the field is explored through rare concept artwork, newly commissioned interviews and interactive digital displays. This is the first large-scale exhibition to take visitors behind the scenes of how video games are made as well as spotlighting the people who actually make them."

No word from Natgeo Nerd Nite yet, but on their website it says their regularly scheduled Nerd Nite (July 18) is going to be Speed Dating instead.
This could mean that there could be an actual Nerd Nite during SDCC, since the July event isn't really a Nerd Nite...but it could also mean that there won't be one, since they already have an event so close to July 18...hmm...
I was very lucky to have won a free ticket to the Thursday night Wynonna Earp party via a Twitter contest today.Congrats!! I just found out about the Twitter contests earlier today... Do you just RT his post announcing it?
I was very lucky to have won a free ticket to the Thursday night Wynonna Earp party via a Twitter contest today.
I got lucky and ran into some of the Wyonna Earp cast including Melanie Scrofano in front of the restroom last year. No, I'm not one of those people that wait to ambush people at the restroom door. ;)A little off topic, my husband looks like Penn Gillette from Penn and Teller ( even with his Japanese heritage) and we go to Vegas about twice a year. We were at the Rio last year, where they do their show, and two guys followed him into the bathroom one saying "it's not him." aside from that, people will randomly scream Penn at him.
They were really laid back and seemed surprised that anyone would be interested in them. There was only a small 4-5 person crowd. I actually walked by on my way to fill up a water bottle at a drinking fountain and then stopped on my way back.

Dunkirk opens July 21st.I highly doubt it. Not really SDCC material.
Could be a possibility for an early screening?
I really hope so - I'm bummed that it comes out while I'm at SDCC and I'll have to wait to see it.
Dunkirk opens July 21st.Highly doubt it. Nolan didn't bring the Dark Knight films to Comic-Con, let alone INCEPTION and those are all genre films (he did have a panel for INTERSTELLAR so there IS that). DUNKIRK seems like a big long shot for SDCCI anyway, but with Nolan generally avoiding Comic-Con previously I'd say it would be WAY shocking if they did have a panel.
Could be a possibility for an early screening?
Last year they had an outdoor preview of Star Trek. Any news of any film this year? They announced that May 20 last year. I feel like they would have already announced it if there was one. Everything seems later this year, so who knows! It could happen!

Studios DO seem to love to hype up films right before they open (see EXPENDABLES, which might've really benefitted from the Comic-Con buzz from the panel the day before it opened), so I personally wouldn't say 100% no. But I'd say we're looking at, like, maybe only a very slim chance DUNKIRK would play in Hall H this year.
Any chance we're gonna get a GOT watch party? I mean, we can't let this opportunity to actually watch a new episode with dozens/hundreds of fellow fans go to waste, right? It airs after the con is over on Sunday night, so it would have to be an offsite, but come on!I wondered about that too. However it does seem most people leave on the Sunday, so gotta wonder how well it would sell.
Sigh. Missed the Conan tickets.
HBO IS planning something epic for GoT. That's all I can say. It won't be an Embarcadero event...but something is in the works. :)How about this - blink once for petco park concert, blink twice for massive offsite obstacle course

Lucky! I was quite literally refreshing this page all morning and (of course) the Buffy party popped up while I was in a meeting. No tix for me. :(
No definite news on the MTV Fandom Awards, but their Twitter account has been fairly active this month and has made a recent post about the "reigning SOTY" (Ship of the Year, emphasis mine). This would suggest to me that they're continuing it. I asked them and will post here if they reply.

My pie in the sky, 2015 brought Star wars out to the amphitheater for a live performance, then 2016 we got the star trek movie there....how about a live screening of GOT there this year?!They are not releasing screeners to press this season so if this happens it would be good for the fans.
After the panel, on Thursday the 20th from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, fans and cosplayers are encouraged to head over to PETCO Park for FANDOM Fest where Joaquim, Lauren, Bex, and Tyler will be on hand to check out your best Voltron cosplay and met fans.
This is followed on Friday, July 21, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, our quartet will be at the autograph area and in Sails Pavilion at the San Diego Convention Center for a ticketed signing.
And if you sadly can’t make any of these things, or even if you can and you just want to get your grub on, then all con long, you’ll be able to head to PETCO Park’s Interactive Zone and hit up the official Hunk food truck, serving every paladin’s (least) favorite snack: Green Food Goo! Don’t worry, though; it’s actually real tasty. The truck will be open from 11am-6pm Thursday through Saturday and 11-5 on Sunday.

The food truck does look awesome! I may have to try that green stuff. Lol It's good seeing the new Voltron series getting the love it deserves. It's a great series on Netflix.

is there a link to this event somewhere , I can't find itI couldn't find any, but I did get the image from Twitter--
I really hope so - I'm bummed that it comes out while I'm at SDCC and I'll have to wait to see it.
HBO IS planning something epic for GoT. That's all I can say. It won't be an Embarcadero event...but something is in the works. :)You say that and I'm thinking free Dragon rides...
I heard there is a BBCA Doctor Who event. Does anyone have details?Sounds interesting, would love to know more.
There’s more fun outside Comic-Con International than ever before! In addition to our official programming and event rooms at the San Diego Convention Center, plus the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, the Manchester Grand Hyatt, the Omni San Diego, the Horton Grand Theatre, and the San Diego Central Library, this is just a taste of the other offsite events to explore. Wear your Comic-Con 2017 badge for access to these events, if space is available!
Don’t forget to download the Official Comic-Con App to see the full list of outside events as we get closer to the show, available in Mac iOS and Android editions at the App Store and Google Play (search “Official Comic-Con App”).

I know I post a lot about off-sites, but this year I'm feeling somewhat burned out and disinterested, so I think that's it for me. No more haunting Twitter looking for stuff. :-\Dont blame you, but I do appreciate all of your contributions to this thread and keeping us informed!

Checked their events calendar, but there isn't anything listed yet.
Cool to see the postings and all. and it possible to get burned out of reading so much and all. they say there is always alot to do that u cant do all unless u have time and can go to san diego all week to try all events around the con. best thing to remember is to pretty much just enjoy the fun and all.
I heard there is a BBCA Doctor Who event. Does anyone have details?Unofficial Blog has heard that it will be at the Omnia on Saturday night. More details soon.
I've been attending SDCC so long, I can't even remember the first time I went. I always tell people, the biggest secret is never try to do everything. I'm always upset when the con is over, but as of today, I've never been able to even do half of what I had planned. There's always so much both at the con, and offsite activations. It's impossible to get to it all.
Tickets gone already. :oOnly 350 available.
i got a few of them. 8)
Finally success..
Conan strike out
Funko strike out
Buffy strike out
Yea was thinking I am missing out on every thing.. finally a ray of light woot woot.. ^-^

I got in for myself, but was unable to get in again for DH. Is it one person per RSVP? I'm assuming it is. I guess I won't be going. They should make it so you can at least get two.

I guess there will be space, since I don't want to go without DH. I can't find any info on it besides the event page. Someone tweeted about it earlier today, but didn't answer any of the questions about it. The email is just as cryptic. Crossing fingers that it will be a +1 situation, but realize that it is a longshot.
I have given up on there being a Nerd Nite, since they tweeted about NYCC Nerd Nite today, and have not said a word about SDCC. I was hoping this would be the replacement.
Has anyone been to the fandom party? What can I expect?Last year they had free food (sliders, wings) and an open bar. Some celebrity sightings (most of the kept to themselves at their VIP section). My least favorite part was the line to get in. It took me almost an hour to get in.
It looks like each RSVP is only for one. Based on the name and the SDCC Blog stating the RSVP email is the ticket. I would assume if it was a +1, it'd have made mention of that somewhere. Hoping it is a +1 so you and your DH can both attend!Oh man, that is a long wait! Do you recommend early line-up then?

Hmmm. Hope I type my name correctly :-[
Hmmm. Hope I type my name correctly :-[Good call, it may be a lonnnng wait
Oh man, that is a long wait! Do you recommend early line-up then?Yeah, I definitely would. Hopefully they'll be faster at letting people in this year. I believe most of the bottleneck came from the VIP line. People in that line were let in first and then they would let people in the regular line in. So if a VIP showed up 30 minutes after the party started, they were let in before those that were already waiting in the regular line. They also had a table where people checked in... So they could only let in some people at one time. Not very organized in terms of people movement and line management. But I still had fun!
There were also video games, a makeup artist area and a concert put on by a small indie band. The food was whatevs but the free alcohol was plus.Yeah that vent totally sucked.
But last year, no one really knew what to expect since I think that was their first year (they were launching the website if I recall) also, I don't think we knew how many were going, hence the long wait times. This year, you know only 350 people can get in (although I'm sure there will be celebs and business folk there too) so it shouldn't be that long or crowded, hopefully.
I do remember waiting in front of a large restaurant vent and that sucked.

also for a fan party like this, what do people normally wear? semi dressing? ive never been before to any party and i got lucky and david picked me today. IM SUPER EXCITED.
I think people do not know that the Padres are back in town the following Monday after SDCC so I believe that is why no major events at Petco this year like in previous years (Nerdist Convial and Nerd HQ). I think it would be an logistics nightmare to have everything torn down Sunday Night and into Monday Morning to get ready for the Baseball game that day.

IGN Dark Tower party
Ok, let's be honest about this to the newbies. Since the invite link is STILL up, that means thousands of people are going to RSVP.
That also means the line to get in is going to be insanely long.
I'm having Crave Online flashbacks from a few years ago when they hosted their first party on the USS Midway. It was a disorganized nightmare.
Now the only plus is that IGN has hosted parties before and knows that they are doing. It leaves a TINY bit of hope they'll have plenty of drinks and food.

Yeah I noticed the registration was still open which makes me a bit bummed. I don't think that the Tipsy Crow is that big so I don't know what's up with that. Sigh. I hope they don't cancel the rsvp's and make it Invite Only.
Dang it.

Funny that it's on Saturday night, when super fans might be in line for the panel...
I hope some of you were able to get tickets to the Stargate 20th Anniversary Fan Party. Sadly, tickets are gone now. Looks like it's done by the same company that is doing the Buffy party as well, Legion M.

The new rule for all parties is that you have to get tickets within 2 minutes of them being posted on The SDCCUnofficial Blog. They have over 58,000 Twitter followers, so you can't expect tickets to last very long once the info gets tweeted.

I got Stargate and Doctor Who tickets. Anyone wanna trade for the Thursday night Fandom party? I really wanted that one because I am staying at the Hard Rock.
Just a warning about trading for Fandom tix...a friend of mine has tickets and they say they are non-transferable and will be checking IDs.I got that same email. Still no word on the plus one, but I assume there isn't one (I just want to see it in writing! LOL!)

I stayed at the hard rock last year...we just walked into the fandom. Just a FYI no idea if it will be as easy this year, but would be nice!
Did you enter from the 4th floor elevator?my room was on 4th floor... just walked down the hall...

my room was on 4th floor... just walked down the hall...Do you think if we don't have a room on the 4th floor we could still sneak in? We thought of maybe even just trying towards the end of the party.
Did anyone enter the Aisha tyler cocktail thing? I did but haven't heard anything.
The Nerdist Alpha party went live while I was training someone at work and I missed it. I have 2 Stargate party tickets or 2 Buffy party tickets if anyone wants to trade. :(
I now have several tickets to several parties for Thursday night. Fandom was my main goal, but I missed out. Once the wife and I finalize our plans, I will offer up my extra tickets here.mtv fandom party?
The one in the photo. I got to watch it from my window at the Hard Rock last year, and wanted to attend this year since we got the Hard Rock again.sent you a PM.
Anyone else having issues with tapatalk notifications? Was working beautifully, and then last few days won't really notify at all. Maybe too overloaded?I haven't been getting notifications the last few days either.

Mine literally just started working.Lol. I got a notification from your post. First notification in days. Guess it's working for me too?
Sweet-got two tickets to the Funimation Event that the unofficial blog just tweeted about (it's already sold out, of course-didn't even have time to post about it). And, since I am a Funimation subscriber, I get an extra drink ticket. Something DH and I can do on Thursday, and something I am interested in!

It's nice that it's for everyone during the day, but 21+ in the evening.
So sad that I missed out on Nerd Nite. I was working away, listening to the tweets go off on my phone, but I was trying to get something done. I have been following Nerd Nite all year (had them on notify). I should have turned off the unofficial blog for this morning. I had a feeling Nerd Nite would be today. I wish they hadn't waited so long. Last year, they did it around July 1st, so I was on high alert for a while, but then let my guard down.
Congrats to those that scored tickets. It really is a fun time.
NatGeo NerdNite tickets went in seconds. I got 5.
Just signed up for the free trial to get into this. You can cancel online, though you do have to put in a CC or Paypal (but aren't charged until the end of the free trial).

If you're sleeping at SDCC, you're doing it wrong ;)I sleep in line...... yes I am on of those rare folks who can nap out
(This is coming from the guy who camped-out all night for the Firefly Reunion panel, only to fall asleep during it) so take my opinion with huge grains of salt ;)
I'm curious, do Hall H people get hotel rooms or do they just camp out all the time? Seems like a hotel room would be a waste of money like getting a hotel for a bachelor/bachelorette party in Vegas.
Still need space to shower and hold your stuff though. I know people who only used their rooms for maybe a couple hours. Its up to you whether that's worth the money though.
We are way over room capacity this year for our hotel
I need help! I *might* get to submit a question for a Doctor Who interview, and now my mind is totally blank! If you had the honor what would you ask?

Anyone here get into Adam and Daron's Super Awesome Boba meetup? Just curious. I put myself on the waitlist, but the event was only for 100 people. They are from Star vs the Forces of Evil. So many cool things happening!

I just happened to check Twitter at that exact moment and was able to get 1 RSVP. But my friend wasn't able to get in on time. Does anyone know if +1's are allowed for the Doctor Who party? Not really wanting to go to the party by myself.Did they not give you an option for a Guest? I snagged mine in the first round of RSVP's and ticked the box for a Guest and it prompted me after to enter a name.

You’ve got the costume, the love of comics and the burning desire to go to Comic-Con, but you don’t have the badge you need to make it into the hallowed halls of the San Diego Convention Center. Considering badges sold out within hours this year, that’s understandable. No problem. The pop culture juggernaut has been spilling out onto the streets over the past few years and the opportunities for San Diego locals and travelers who just want to soak in the scene and be among their people continue to get bigger and better.
Here are 12 of the coolest events and activities you can do outside the convention center without a Comic-Con badge.
Adult Swim at Comic-Con
“Adult Swim On the Green” will feature games, motorized animals, a tarot card reader, dart throwing, an oversized claw machine with Comic-Con-related prizes and something referred to as the “Meatwad Dome 4D Experience.” “The Green” is located behind the convention center at Fifth Avenue Landing and Convention Way and is open to anyone older than 18. Celebrity guests will be stopping by throughout the Con and AdultSwim.com will be broadcasting some of your favorite shows live. It’ll be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
Adult Swim’s “Nighttime On The Green” will offer free screenings for fans who want to see the latest series and pilots. Start lining up at 7 p.m. and the screenings will run from 8 to 10 p.m on Thursday and Friday.
At Petco Park on Saturday, Adult Swim will host a “Rick and Morty” event with creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. Use the East Village Gate to line up at 7 p.m. The show will run from 7:30 to 11 p.m. For more information visit adultswim.com/presents.

Hop-Con 5.0
The “annual celebration of nth-degree beer geekery” returns. Sample all five versions of the w00tstout and 15 other beers. There will also be a photo booth, “hopcade,” churros and “lots of geeky good times.” Attendees will also receive a commemorative Hop-Con 5.0 glass. Anyone know what days the FYE pop up is open? Like if its open Wed day would be awesome!Their Facebook page has an event on Wednesday at the Pop Up Shop, so it looks like you're in luck.
Maybe I'm being a little strict, but how can that be possible? There's like 13 empty chairs. That has to be against the rules, one person to watch 13 chairs!??
We stopped by the "Futurist" thing at the Omni today, mostly various VR things, and some AI/science stuff. There were some lines for the VR but nothing like you'd see in the exhibit hall and it was quite fun. (Even though my glasses wouldn't fit in one and I ended up having to shoot it out against killer robots half blind for all to see.)This is on my definite to do list as a "break" .. plus I figured it would be all things nerdy like science and AI.. just up my alley. Cool re VR.
I'm in line at the blade runner & expanse offsite. At this point it may be a two hr waitGuess who won the Blu-ray? And met the producer?
I got in line about 8:30am and have a bit more to go.
One line to get through both off sites. Go to blade rune first, do the experience and get a skip the line for The Expanse experience. If u 'win'/escape the expanse experience you get a season 2 blue ray set!
Guess who won the Blu-ray? And
