Two new downtown hotels: Moxy and The Guild
« on: November 29, 2018, 09:10:59 AM »
The Moxy recently opened up, by the Andaz.  It's a European style hotel (read: "cozy")

The Guild Hotel is supposedly opening up in February in 500 West Broadway (in the old YMCA building, Right near Westin San Diego).

More downtown hotels can only be a good thing for SDCC!

We look forward to welcoming our friends visiting for Comic-Con in 2019. The Guild will be a truly unique hotel experience that downtown San Diego has not been able to offer in previous years.  We expect to have the ability to take reservations in early 2019. We are putting the finishing touches to the masterpiece we are excited to introduce to the San Diego community.  We have poured a lot of passion into the development over the last 4 years and guests from all over the world will be delighted to finally see an iconic European style modern luxury hotel in downtown San Diego that is accessible to all.

Reservations will be available via Marriott. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

With warmest regards -

Well, hopefully at rates that are accessible for us!  That being said, kudos for thinking of us and welcome to the board!  I like it when brands go out of their way to engage their (potential) customers

I am appreciative that reservations will be open to the public, unlike the Pendry, which locked everything up its very first year and has never been available for booking to attendees in any way.

Looks like the Moxy only has single queen beds...cozy indeed!

That brings the count up to 3 new downtown hotels.

There's also The Intercontinental, which is already taking reservations.

Approx $700 / night for the week of the Con.

Chump Change...    :) ;)

This is a great thread.  It is a challenge keeping up with new hotels...thank you.  Pretty cool to hear directly from The Guild Hotel folk too.  Time for me to start dusting off the hotel info! :)

I'm still mad about the Pendry and so glad I didn't put them on my list. I feel sorry for everyone that did because they had no business being on the form if they had no intention of being utilized as a hotel for SDCC.

We have loved staying at Marriott properties for many years during the con and hope to check these out (assuming they are within our budget)!

Hello all! FYI - the Guild is currently blocked out for check-in during SDCC.  :(

Is there a chance that they've blocked off that time in anticipation for the hotel lottery?

Yes, most likely.  They have the same blockout dates as the rest of the Marriott properties.
