Robert Iger returns to run Disney after Bob Chapek has stepped down just four months after Chapek was asked to run Disney for three more years. Iger stepped down from Disney in 2020 after running the company for 15 years. The move comes after Chapek was involved in a series of missteps, including a legal battle with star Scarlett Johansson and more recently a public spat with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, which prompted the governor to target laws that favor Disney’s business in the state.

The Disney situation with ScoJo was pretty deplorable, though seemed fairly in-line with what other studios were doing during the pandemic shut-downs. IDK what he could've down about sparring with that nutty governor of FL, though (though his biggest mistake might've been the fact he stayed mostly silent while other Disney execs came out publicly against in; I know PLENTY of Disney employees from Disneyland to Studios who were livid about that and felt unsupported by their big boss) . IMO for him to "step down" on a Sunday before Thanksgiving means there is a shoe about to drop either publicly or privately (for Disney corporate) that's much more egregious than anything we know about, though it's very plausible it was simply lower-than-expected profits + poorly handling a quarterly earnings call. Personally, I wasn't a fan of stuff he did when he was running Disney Parks, and while Galaxy's Edge is pretty cool the original plans before Chapek slashed the budget were sooooo much cooler.
