I cannot not go. I'm addicted to waiting in line for Hall H.

100% in, never a doubt. Can't go forever so making the most of it every time. All I need is convention center or HBF parking and I'm ready

I didn't score a ticket this year but I'm still flying down for a day to do offsites. This happened to me 7 years ago and I still had a blast people watching and just being in the atmosphere.  Back then, offsites were easier to get into but with enough planning, you can still get to experience a lot without a ticket.

Yup!! This will be our 10th time attending and I still manage to find out afterward all the cool panels/vendors/swag I missed!! This past year attending was a tough one physically and emotionally but I've been working hard on getting in better shape so looking forward to this year. Daily walking on my treadmill or with the dog to condition myself for the con floor. (OMG and the trek from the shuttle buses to the convention ctr!) Last year my niece was unable to attend so really looking forward to this year and having the family back together. Also bringing my son Andrew to his first SDCC. Some of you might remember my son Will attended in 2015. And super psyched we have badges, hotel and airfare figured out because this is definitely the budget year. Really looking forward to seeing you all again in July!

When I started bringing my kids to SDCC, it was a TOTAL game changer in the most fun way!  My oldest is now 21, with the youngest being 8, and experiencing Comic-Con through their eyes is always a joy

Yep, do what I did last year.  The later auctions' prices are more reasonable.  Keep in mind you won't have a choice as far as what days, they will all be four days w/preview night.

Still shocked as hell that I got all four days and PN which I used to enjoy mostly for the premieres in BR 20.  PN will still kick off with donating a pint to the Heinlein blood drive, followed by supper with friends also attending (we have an amazing group who really pulled together bigger and better than ever this year) and then on to PN!  Hotel apocolypse (sorry, that is just one word I can never spell right) is looming and the anxiety is building...but I am just going to stay calm and remind myself that even if I don't get a room a solution also presents itself.

I'm going! I go as press, luckily, otherwise I couldn't afford it. (I can barely afford it anyway, haha, but this is my one big thing every year and basically the only time I travel out of the state.)

I am still on board but I will say I have friends who are talking about cutting back due to the cost.  I can't fault them.

I also have friends who stop attending due to the lotteries.  It took away what they liked to do.

My issues with the lottery is that it has left people bored and now other lines are worse.  They need to find a way to break the crowd up more.  Also, people start the con off by losing, while others won 10 things.  You have a lot of people starting off negatively toward their trip. They need to fix the lottery, one friend won the same booth 4 times.  NYCC's reservation system has potential but still needs work as a solution.

I have read about people no longer going due to lines and I can't blame them, those lines can get aggressive.  I have seen and heard about the fights, fights are not fun. As a female, I have experienced a lot unkind behavior from some of the males in those lines.  Lots of my female friends have had the same issues.  I had one friend bullied by a few guys in line, which left her in tears, and she has never gone back.

Don't get me wrong I still have an amazing time, but I do see the problems and understand why people are making a different choices.

I haven't noticed other lines getting worse due to lotteries. And to be frank...if someone stops attending due to the lottery, I think of it as win/win. Better odds for everyone who still goes -and- less tired aggro people.

I do agree that it's not fair that some people win 10 prizes while others win nothing. I would support a way to make it more even.

I’ll echo what a lot of peeps in this thread have already said: it’s an addiction, and I have to go. Don’t get me wrong, there have been years where I wasn’t at all enthused or excited to go. Sometimes it’s just being so busy at work that I don’t have time to think about SDCC. Other times it’s the lack of enticing panels / guests / off sites / exclusives. But the moment I get off the plane at SAN, my first thought is always along the lines of “I’m back, baby!”

I’ve been going since 2003, and I’ve always thought the year I don’t go will be because I couldn’t score badges through either registrations (though this is probably no longer an issue as long as I volunteer at least one day each SDCC). I feel as long as I’m fortunate enough to get badges, I owe it to myself to go. You don’t just waste luck.

Also, my sis loves SDCC more than me (and I love it a lot), and there’s no way she’ll ever not want to go.

I agree about that nostalgia feeling. At CCSE, it felt so good to be back in San Diego, visiting all of the usual places, doing a tour of places where my husband had slept on the sidewalk/lawn in a line... Even though the con itself was lackluster, the feeling of being back in San Diego (particularly after 2 years of no SDCC) was amazing.

This year I am taking my niece, she is so excited. We have Friday-Saturday-Sunday badges and on Thursday our plan is to do offsites. She is autistic so it maybe challenging at times. We are flying from Eastern Canada so this will be a big adventure for her. Staying with friends so I save on hotels but plane tickets this year was crazy.
