I like when it’s on Easter. Usually it means cheaper hotels (people don’t stay in downtown/business area hotels on holidays) and it’s a perfect excuse to avoid the in-laws.

I decided to skip this year, flights are on the higher side and it would be a rushed trip.  Fingers crossed for not close to accounting close next year.

Despite liking the Easter dates, at this point I’m not really motivated to go due to how badly run 2023 was.

I’ll probably go but I wish WonderCon had better limited group signing opportunities.  Lately they’ve had none.  The last good one when they had signings for “San Andreas” in 2015 when two of their leading talent were there.  The limited group signing for “The Conjuring 2” in 2016 was very disappointing.  Only the director was there for signing, no talent showed up for that.  Since then, they had no limited group signings that interested me.

I agree.  The highlight was seeing Mike Tyson in a panel, that was it.

Just a heads up; I bought my badge for Wondercon today and on CCI’s page it says that I’ll be charged a $10 handling fee, but when I bought my badge I was actually charged $15, I will be asking for a $5 refund  :smilie_tongue_updown:
Also, at least for the Anaheim Hilton it is cheaper booking through the Hilton website than through the WC page.
A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting”

When I went to the badge price page it shows a $15 handling fee per member. Maybe they updated it. ::)

Got my tickets. I was starting to like Wonder Con better than Comic Con until covid hit. Last year was a little better but I still left early Sunday. The new "handling fees" are very annoying. Just be honest and raise the prices.

2019 was a good year. 2023 was not, but the biggest issue was that they denied entrance to the arena halfway into the DC Animated Premiere, despite it being definitely less than 50% full and probably less than 25% full. That was a critical failure.
Other issues:
When Brian Mariotti was holding my Funko Pop (outdoors, and in a very un-crowded area) and about to sign it, security came up and literally grabbed it out of his hand (and gave it back to me) and said that wasn't allowed. This issue and the previous issue were examples of ACC staff sabotaging the attendee experience, which is extremely concerning.
Hotels did not go up until two months before the con. When they did, there were only 5 options; 4 were overpriced and the other 1 had sketchy rooms.
The Arena was not dark when screening the DC Animated Premiere.
DC Animated Premiere timing was moved up an hour early which created multiple conflicts. It used to be a 7-7:15 which had no conflicts.
Exhibit hall was not balanced. 95% of it was like a flea market, with the remaining one being Funko which was even more of a cluster than Funko's booth usually is.
There was literally no interesting programming on Sunday.

What made this especially disappointing is that before 2023, I've known this to be the best organized convention out of all of them...but not this year, just being there felt like an uphill battle. Some issues were worse than others, but due to the sheer number (and the severity of a few of them) I'm not so sure I can dismiss it as just a 'blip'.

Yeah, the DC animated presentation was a fiasco. I was lucky to get in, but I kept waiting for the lights to go down. I also agree about the exhibit hall. I wish more publishers would show up.
