SDCC 2024 Hotel Discussion
« on: July 28, 2023, 09:14:23 AM »
Too soon? Never! In fact it's a little late starting.

Has anyone gotten any lift off of the one week shift in the con this year?

Discuss all things 2024 Hotels here!

I got a hotel downtown for the first time this year, and I'm hooked! Now we wait for Hotelpocalypse 2024!

I've stayed at Hard Rock, Omni, Indigo, MMM, Bayfront, and Solamar/Margaritaville. The one downtown hotel that I've never stayed at and want to is the Hilton Gaslamp.

On my request form, I think I'm going to go:

Hard Rock
Hilton Gaslamp
MMM
Margaritaville
Indigo
Bayfront

The downtown hotels I've stayed at so far:
MGH
Horton
Hotel Republic
Westin
Hilton Bayfront (for SDCC special edition, so maybe I won't count this as a stay)

I'd love to stay at Bayfront, Hardrock, or MMM someday just from the close proximity.

A very interesting-looking boutique Hotel opened called the Lafayette, but it it's in University Heights and that's not a neighborhood that even has shuttles.

It doesn't seem to be near any trolley lines, only buses. It looks like a cute hotel though.

We stayed at the Intercontinental this year which was about a mile from the convention center. My husband and I are both ADA which made it difficult for us. Years in the military left both of us with terrible foot problems and I'm coming off a brain tumor situation and thyroid cancer so the struggle was real. We're desperately hoping for something much closer next year. Overall, I was extremely happy we got something during hotelpocolypse though. The Intercontinental was a wonderful hotel with several food options close by. And they put us in a huge corner room with incredible views. So other than the distance, it was a fabulous hotel.

No problem! It will be good for others to know this info when considering next year's hotelpocalypse.

MMM is still the unicorn for me. I’ve stayed at HBF, MGH, and Omni at least 3x each, but I have yet to nab MMM. One day!

I've only stayed at MGH. It's funny since both my friends have status either at Hilton or Marriott and they booked for those hotels respectively ie Hilton Bayfront and MMM. They went into MGH to do something and now they want to stay there. At the moment I booked MGH for next year as a member rate. Hoping I can get it at the con rate during the hotel sale event.

From what I saw early on--right after the con, the hotels at which I usually stay - the Marriott brand, were really posting higher than normal prices for rooms, even right after SDCC 2023.  Kudos to those who were able to get lower pricing for next year.
