sdcomicfest If he wasn't your favorite artist then he is probably your favorite artist's favorite artist. His stories and artwork have influenced fans and creatives alike and will continue to for generations. He created icons, legends, worlds and mythologies with the stroke of a pencil and always pushed himself to be better.

He revolutionized the world of comics and many would claim he saved it a more than a handful of times. He created or co-created some of the most iconic fictional characters in history including Captain America, The Fantastic Four, The Hulk, Thor, The X-Men, NIck Fury, The Silver Surfer, The Avengers, The Eternals, The Fourth World, The Demon and countless other projects. We are always happy to celebrate these timeless tales but today we celebrate what would have been the 103rd anniversary of his birth.

From all of us at San Diego Comic Fest we wish a Happy Birthday to Jack Kirby, the King of Comics.

toddmcfarlane Spawn 311 Tribute Cover Given the limited amount of minority characters in the comic industry today that are considered major Superheroes, I thought it appropriate for one of those well-known heroes (Spawn) to pay tribute to a man who made a lasting impact on helping shape such a strong superhero of color. Chadwick Boseman is a person who honed his skills and then made a career using them. Then he fought a fight against his own body that showed the true spirit of this man. We should all admire the traits Chadwick shared with us. And the inspiration he gave to millions of children around the globe who got to see a strong, meaningful and proud hero that looked like themselves.

chrisclearmountain Apologies for the improv photo but I’m feeling like shouting from the rooftops—because my 50th Anniversary X-travicanza story (with art by Bill Sienkievicz, Sean Chen, Diego Oroltegui & Brett Booth) will be lettered by none-other than letterer supreme, Tom Orzechowski!!!!! Truly, one of the very best at what he does & here’s your chance to see why! And holy cow, it’s a self-contained story. Well, kinda. ‘Cept for the (almost) cliff-hanger ending. That’ll likely be resolved in the Celebratory Centennial! 🤫‼️😉 Finally, this sodding year has a legitimate bright-spot! Something to look forward to, my friends; bet it makes a brilliant X-Mas gift! 😆
