E3
« on: May 11, 2012, 02:52:09 PM »
June 5-7th at the LA Convention Center! Not technically a comic con, this is the SDCC of video game expos for those of you who may not know. Most of the major gaming announcements are dropped at this event and they even have days worth of live TV coverage on Spike and G4.

Is anyone going? What do you hope or expect to see?

I expect to see some more on GTA V and hope to see something on Next Gen consoles.

Thought it wasn't open to the public and you have to be in the industry?

Would love to check it out otherwise...

E3 is not open to the public (industry only).  I believe Mario_c is industry though...  ^_^;

From their registration page:
"E3 is a professional trade event and is not open to the general public. Individuals who are not able to document their direct and current professional affiliation to the interactive entertainment industry are not qualified to attend."

Ah, it would be so cool to go to E3 though.  I actually know a few people who go every year... it's too bad I'm not industry. *sighs*

Ha ha.

Nope, me neither. My DH is close, but not quite gaming related.

Wasn't it opened to the public once a couple of years ago, maybe '09? I thought I heard that it was. Either way, this is one event I feel should be open to the public just so fans can get the first looks and companies can see their reactions in person.

Somehow, I can imagine getting badges for E3 would be just as bad as (or worse than) Comic-Con if it were opened to the public.  There are a lot of industry people that already go, so it's a good number in attendance.  However, I can't help but think of the chaos it would be for registration if the general public was added into the mix.  Ha ha.

As for E3 2009, they just opened up more registrations for industry--it wasn't opened to the public:
