Hall H Line Etiquette
« on: July 22, 2016, 07:48:01 PM »
Wow. The Saturday Hall H line just wet from like 2-3 people wide to 6-7 people wide in a couple of sections up front. That's messed up.
What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

We remain hopeful back here next to the basketball court that we achieve a wristband.  Hope really to get done before midnight.

.. So after the situation, we wound up in the island and became the non-wristband line.  A small group of people did voice their concern about what happened when someone showed up (representative with a tie.  Didn't overhear what was said. Give kudos to the young man giving us the announcement of the events, he just right amount of crowd levity and we decided to spend the night.  We will be up in a few hours and we shared stories of non-wristband ADA having to brave such uncertainty in the past and still make it into the Hall.

Someone walked up and asked if this spot to get the bracelets for H.  After giving them the news that they were out.  We joked that we has earned at least invisible bracelets!

So our non-wristband got into chute one!  After D went in, we were supposed to be next.  Instead, the yellow shirt let 2 chutes of late comers behind D, and let them in before us.  Basically, people who camped on the island and those who got in line up to 8 am, got skipped.  We got a representative from our group to tell security what happened and they acted "surprised" even though they had a green shirt at the front of our line.

Our group made it in.  Five of the group, who helped the lady who had been in line for 24 hours (her friend had a medical emergency early last night and she had been sent to back of the line.  After CCI accommodated them first, at 330 pm, our awesome green-shorted supervisor picked the next group of 20, mix of wait times from 8pm to 11pm and I got in at the tail in and got to see the best part of the Aliens 30th panel, Hicks the debate on the facility and the famous quip.

(We addressed our concerns throughout the events, and esp the lack of info to the green shirts.  When one of the green shirts wasn't getting any replies, they went inside and when pointed out our chutes concerns, was promotly met with a go back outside reply.  We were an informal group, but supported each other, made sure batteries got charged and one lady saw a tweet that someone hadn't eaten since 5pm and she handed her some protein bars.)

The Hall H situation is reaching a breaking point imo. Waiting that length of time and getting that treatment from security and CCI staff was wrong. I will not be surprised when a physical fight ensues and the police become involved.

Prehaps one day the Hall H will become a lottery draw.

Good to hear you made it in for Marvel.

Thank you.  Outside of the external forces, the situation was an example of a group managing experiences and resources.  Some members not prepared to camp even for a short wristband handout.  Got to hear about volunteer badge chip problems, parking lots that close at midnights, humor, and, as the hour passed, more people did make it during the next two panels.

We could see stress in the Funko camp in the Everything Else line over blanket positioning in the first part of that line btw.  Security helped space out the area a foot or two.

Finale insights on the island, thanks to the security guy and his elbow spacing exercise to have us agree to our overnight spots and space!  When a trio of folks left a person to hold their spot, we cheered her up saying, in the "1 spot equals 5" policy vein, "you may be 20% of your group, but remember, you're 100% of us."
