RFID Badge and Scanner feedback
« on: July 26, 2016, 07:08:17 PM »
Starting this thread to discuss experiences with the RFID badges.

Did you find the process good? Were there any issues? Etc.

For me I did not have any major issues with the exception of one time where I was stopped entering the building and it turns out I did not properly scan myself out. They checked my ID and I was allowed to proceed.

Only one issue for me to. The person in front of me had an issue and I scanned in then the security guard told me to scan in again, not realizing I had already scanned in. It threw an error of course.

Showed id, scanned out and back in, moved on. 3 min tops

#PieceOfCake. Error free all days (although was waived through with "yeah, you don't need to tap" several times leaving and entering :o)

Only 2 mishaps, both times got a red light when entering. First time, someone with a handheld device checked my badge and I was in my way. Second time, they took me aside, asked for my badge, and took it away. A minute later they came back and said I was good.

Overall, I found that RFID didn't really change my Con experience. So as an attendee, I think it was successful. I do wonder if they were able to collect the data they hoped for.

Occasionally I would get a red light, but an immediate rescan would be green. My experience, both at SDCC and at WonderCon, was that the whole thing went very smoothly.

Never had an issue using the rfid system. The only thing I did not like was the target area to tap your badge could have been better marked and if there could have been multiple target points at different heights to accommodate short/tall people.

No issues here with scanning in nor out. But I find it a bit inconvenient at the doors because it creates a bottleneck effect when entering.

No problems here. The scanning in at the Indigo Ballroom was really intermittent. I was in that room 3 times and only scanned in once. And that time when I left, I wasn't scanned out, so I was worried I'd come up red getting back into the convention center - but nope, all green.

Only 1 time I got a red light when scanning out. The worker on Sunday in the G exit area said to try again and I got green. Other than that, all good. Easy and painless.

My only complaint was the scanner was too low.

I had the scanner go red twice while I was there. The first time was going into the exhibit hall around noon on thursday (I had already gone in/come out several times that day) and three people in a row threw a red light (I was the third). They checked all our badges with the handheld and we were clear to go. One of the people with the handheld said it was an issue with the machine.

The second time was in Hall H on Saturday, a girl and I scanned at the same time and it threw a red - neither of us stopped walking and neither of us were called back. One of the times I went for food, I went and found a woman with a handheld and had her check/clear my badge. I wasn't ID'd either time.

Same here.  I did get the third degree lots about why I was there too.  It was odd.

No problems for me...and only witnessed a handful of attendees with problems in my 4 days at the con.  Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised.  Expected more issues being the first year.

Green across the board for me.  Although it was a teeny-tiny bit weird to walk out of the convention center Sunday afternoon after all the panels were done and *not* scan out (last day).  Even the guards there were saying "no need to scan, have a nice day".  After getting it drilled in my head to scan-in-and-out, it was a little bit of a weird thing to do.
