Previous hotels I've stayed at for ECCC (w/ price per night):

2012: 6th Avenue Inn, $61 (demolished)
2013: Best Western Executive Inn, $65
2014: The Paramount, $117
2015: Crowne Plaza (Sea-Tac Airport), $99
2016: Crowne Plaza (Seattle), $118
2017: Hotel Max, $141
2018: Hyatt Place, $123 (off-block)
2019: Hyatt Regency, $179

As recently as 2016 the Crowne Plaza was $118...for 2020 it's $177, meaning it has gone up 50% in 4 years. The Paramount doesn't even participate in the block anymore. Hyatt Regency, while nice, was not really worth $179/night (although it was kind of cool when I walked into the elevator and saw George Takei.) Most likely I'll go off-block this year...for the most part prices are in line with the block hotels, and much bigger selection.

Saturday running low, but still available 3 weeks later. The last time Saturday took this long to sell out was 2016, when it lasted about a month.

Make that 4 weeks. I think the lack of a major, A-list star is the reason. If someone big was announced, more people would get off the sidelines.

ReedPop hasn't been getting top-tier, headlining guests for their last few shows, and this is encompassing NYCC and C2E2.

6 weeks now (and Saturday tickets have been "almost gone" for 3 weeks.) Slowest Saturday sell out by far since 2015...looks like more people than just me think this con is losing its luster.

I am surprised that Saturday has been more than 90% gone for this many weeks. You may be right about the guest announcements, although I would think that Matt Smith would have brought people in.

ECCC has always been a blend of out-of-towners and locals. Both groups behave very differently with respect to ticket sales. It seems as if the out-of-towners once again snapped up the multi-day badges, but  the locals are being slower to buy the single day badges.

Matt Smith is only appearing Thursday and Friday, though. That’s if he even shows up. When he was announced on the FB page, most of the comments referenced that he has cancelled twice. Hopefully third time will be a charm.

Yeah, if I were local to ECCC I’d no longer buy badges until the schedule is released. (Same reason why I’m waiting on SVCC.) I don’t trust the programming schedule to have enough good panels anymore to fill up my days. Really sad that RP keeps on taking this con more backward than forward in terms of guests and panels. But since it involves planning a trip that I have to take time off and make other arrangements for, I have to decide whether I go or not when everything is still available. For me it’s really just tradition, left over goodwill from the 2012-2015 era and liking Seattle that are keeping me going to ECCC. At some point that may no longer be enough, especially with the hotels no longer being a good deal.

This year's app is available now too and seems to be running fine. I'll give them props for this, considering that last year's was buggy pretty much up until the con.

The panel lineup is probably far from complete (almost nothing listed yet on the Main Stage, for instance), but so far the Into the Spider-Verse Animation panel sticks out. I'm assuming it's the same/similar one I saw at WonderCon last year, but it's nice to see more "official" type panels. Titmouse Animation doesn't show up yet, but they've had it the past few years so hopefully they plug it in before the con.

Ok, I'm legitimately impressed. The Full Back to the Future Reunion has been announced:

Looks like the Panel will be a separately ticketed after-hours event with prices starting at $20. This is similar to when Silicon Valley CC had the same reunion a few years back (sans Tom Wilson, though he did show up the next year) and charged an extra $10. For something like this, I don't mind the minimal fee to guarantee a seat.

Meh, I don't like the idea of ticketed panels on top of the convention so I never do it.  There is enough for me to do.
